Porsche doesn’t make motorcycles, but maybe they should.

Porsche has been designing and building some of the most iconically styled motor vehicles in the world for quite some time now. But despite their differences, those vehicles all share one defining characteristic – they have four wheels. What Porsche doesn’t build, at least currently, is any sort of motorcycle.

It’s a shame, really. Because we imagine a Porsche motorcycle would be quite amazing. With a dash of styling derived from extensive testing and an artistic hand. And of course, some serious performance built in. Perhaps something like this concept, dubbed the Porsche 618.

The bike is quite an exercise in styling, looking like something out of a futuristic sci-fi movie. Which was only part of the intentions of Spanish designer Miguel Angel Bahri, as he explained to The Sun.

“I chose the Porsche 911 turbo, 917, 918 and 919 as main inspirations. It is called the 618 because it would be the entry-level two wheels vehicle for the brand. I wanted to represent the spirit and character of Porsche in this futuristic-looking, pure electric and exclusive power cruiser.”

But the bike’s DNA isn’t all Porsche, of course. Bahri also used American cruisers of the 1930’s-1960’s as inspiration. But there’s no old school Panhead or Knucklehead hiding under that swoopy bodywork.

Instead, this bike’s 160 horsepower comes from an electric motor powered by a 20 kW hour battery pack. The battery is mounted in the center of the bike for stability, and the entire layout was designed with cornering in mind.

And even though we’re pretty sure this uniquely styled two wheeler is pretty quick just the way it is, Bahri has something even more sinister in mind. “This should be considered as the pure sculptural entry model, as I am developing the RS version.”

We’ll be waiting anxiously to see that one. Hopefully, Porsche will be too.
