Porsche Macans Recalled Because of Oversteer Risk… What?!
Porsche is recalling some Macan models because of a potential manufacturer defect that would result in oversteering in extreme driving maneuvers. That’s right, folks, Porsche is recalling cars that oversteer!
To be fair, there is actually a problem that needs fixed. According to Porsche, the front anti-roll bar connecting link bushings can slide out of the connecting link eyes. This would cause a rattle, which is unfortunate, and in extreme driving situations cause the vehicle to unpredictably oversteer. From Porsche;
If this happens, the sporty handling as designed into the Macan may be impaired, resulting in oversteering of the vehicle.
I thought all this time that oversteering was a “sporty” characteristic of a car. I guess I was wrong the whole time.
Pieces broken on a car is not good, and if you own one of the 243 recalled Macans you should definitely get it fixed. It’s just funny that Porsche is recalling a vehicle because it might oversteer, which is often desirable for some of us, especially on a racetrack.
