Porsche 992 GT3 Pricing Is Out of Control; Consider These Porsche GT3 Alternatives Instead

GT3 Mystique

992 GT3

There is no question the GT3 is a special car. MSRP to MSRP it carries a $44,000 premium over a Carrera S. It is worth every cent of those $44,000. You can argue it would be worth a $75,000 premium over the standard Carrera S. But a $150,000 premium? The GT3 is not $150,000 better than a Carrera S. Yes, the GT3 will hold value better. It will get more looks at cars and coffee. But let’s keep it together people and come back to Earth a little bit.

The Future

Yes, EVs are coming. There will be a hybrid 911 at some point and probably a full EV one day. Are the days numbered for a naturally aspirated high revving screamer? Yup. But we have to trust Porsche. They will produce cars that we want that will demolish a 992 GT3 in every performance category imaginable. People thought that the world would end when the water-cooled 911 was introduced. Wrong. When Porsche said it was making an SUV many people laughed and others cried. Porsche will be ruined. Wrong again. I don’t know what the 992.2 GT3 will be like. Or the next generation after that. But history shows that we should not bet against Porsche making more desirable models for a long time to time. So, for everyone flocking to the GT3 now and paying these crazy prices thinking another good GT3 will never be made. You might be right, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

The GT3 is fantastic, we all love it. But at these prices there are just too many other great options, even staying within the Porsche family. My list barely scratched the surface of available options. If you decide to buy a GT3 at these inflated prices, please at least drive the car. If you don’t want to for whatever reason, reach out to me. I would be happy to keep it warm for you.
