As a general rule, modern supercars are notably faster than older ones. Despite the prevalence of smog and safety rules that once threatened their very existence, automakers just keep finding ways to extract ludicrous amounts of speed from their flagship automobiles, year after year. But what if you’re a fan of vintage exotics and their purist driving experience? Well, you go out and build a supercar killer like this incredible Porsche 930, that’s what.
That is, the extra weight that most modern supercars carry due to all of that high-tech componentry. Still, the owner of this Porsche 930 admits having a bit of a traction problem. But thankfully, roll racing helps eliminate factors like that. At least from the start.
Still, the Porsche’s first opponent, a stock Lamborghini Huracan, holds a pair of advantages. All-wheel drive and a lightning-quick dual-clutch gearbox give it a tiny edge in the first race. But the rematch is all 930 as our vintage Porsche pulls away from the Lambo with no problem. The Porsche also gets one shot at a Mercedes-AMG GT R, but sleeps off the line, costing him what should have been another victory.
All in all, a pretty impressive result. But the best thing about this video is that it serves as proof that old timers can still run with fancy new cars, once you level the playing field a bit!
