Porsche 959 Komfort on Bring A Traier with 1,300 kilometers

Gorgeous Guards Red Porsche 959 Komfort with only 800 original miles is looking for a new home via Bring A Trailer.

We’d be pretty shocked if you’re reading this and you’re unfamiliar with the legendary Porshe 959. However, we’re certainly not opposed to taking a minute to dwell on its greatness. The 959 is far more than just a car. It’s a staple of engineering excellence and the absolute pinnacle of performance sports car technology for its time. Upon its release, the 959 was the fastest car on the planet. Furthermore, it was available in two trim levels: the 959 Sport and the 959 Komfort. Originally priced at $225,000, Porsche lost money on every sale. Yet, the car was so relentlessly desirable that it’s the reason the US Show and Display law exists. To say any other vehicle from the 80s is more iconic than a Porsche 959 could cause a fight in many auto enthusiast circles. So rare is the chance to own one of these beauties; however, that chance is now if you’ve got the capital.

This is because this gorgeous Guards Red Porsche 959 Komfort is up for auction on Bring A Trailer. With only 1,300 kilometers (800 miles) on the clock, it’s sure to bring a hefty price tag. Hailing from Canada, this pristine example already has a high bid of over $1.8 million at the time of writing. If that seems reasonable, though, don’t get too comfortable. It’s still got nearly a week until the hammer falls.

Porsche 959 interior

A Legend Frozen in Time

Everything about this 959 is museum-quality to match its low miles. The leather upholstery inside looks as if it came off the factory floor yesterday. Furthermore, everything else inside and out follows suit. In fact, it’s so much of a museum-quality car that it was displayed in a Japanese museum, according to the Bring A Trailer description. After its time as a museum showpiece, it was imported into the US in 2015. Finally, its current owner purchased the car from a dealer, and it’s now taken home at Silver Arrow Cars LTD in Ontario, Canada. So, a bit ironically, if the new owner is in the US, they’ll have to re-import it from Canada. Though, if you’ve got the kind of money to buy a 959, the importation process shouldn’t be much of an issue.

Though it is completely original, it does have one small fault. The adjustable ride height system doesn’t currently work. It could be worse! This definitely isn’t the worst 959 we’ve seen for sale.

A Pretty Powerhouse Looking to Please

When new, its 2.85L M959/50 turbocharged flat-six engine pushed a whopping 444 horsepower through its six-speed manual transaxle. Given the insanely low mileage, it’s safe to assume most, if not all, of that power is still on tap. But, of course, as one might expect, the engine compartment is flawless.

Though this car is undoubtedly out of the price range of most of us, it’s still a fantastic thing to get to see. We can definitely appreciate this meticulously maintained example of a Porsche icon.
