Listen to Chris Harris Take a Porsche 911 R to 180 MPH

Forget playing music on your iPhone or Android, because hearing the engine at full chat is pretty much the perfect soundtrack.

If you’re following Chris Harris on social media, then you know that he’s been living with the coveted 911 R for some time now, using it  for testing. The fact that he gets to commute and hoon about in it already makes 911 R fans envious. Recently, he posted a video on Instagram of himself launching the R from zero and giving it the full beans until hitting somewhere around 180 mph in virtually no time at all. Talk about a way to tease us and make us even more jealous.

Sharing the same naturally aspirated 4.0L flat-six as the GT3 RS, it’s no surprise that the 911 R can accelerate 180 mph with such urgency. Yes, the GT3 RS is quicker in terms of acceleration thanks to the PDK , but you can’t deny that the 911 R is still properly fast in a straight line despite having a conventional manual gearbox.

The best part of doing a flat-out high-speed run in a 911 R? The incredible intake noise you get inside the cabin due to the lack of sound deadening and rear seat delete. Forget playing music on your iPhone or Android, because hearing the engine at full chat is pretty much the perfect soundtrack.

Porsche developed the 911 R for the Porsche purist to experience pure driving enjoyment and not for setting lap times. It’s safe to say that they’ve accomplished their mission. Check out the video below!

0-180 something mph in the 911R. Proper quick for a n/a 911.
