Kremer 930 Cabrio Brings the Madness to Carlisle Auction Block

Special 930 flatnose cabrio widebody comes with a $5,000 sound system, but you’ll only hear the turbocharged 3.3-liter flat-six.

Fall is just around the corner. The days and nights are already on their way towards an even split before the darkness takes over for the rest of the year, while children far and wide return to school for another year of learning. Soon, the pumpkin spice will flow, and the leaves will turn from green to red and gold.

Speaking of red, we happened to be thumbing through the catalog of the upcoming fall auction held by Carlisle Auctions at its Carlisle Expo Center October 3 and 4 when we happened upon this red 1986 Kremer 930 cabriolet. And while it may be hot cider time by then, this Porsche will be ready to welcome the sun next summer.

Around 948 coupes and cabrios were ever built by Kremer Racing between 1982 and 1989 — when the 964 era of the 911 began — of which only 160 ever made it across the Atlantic to the few garages to welcome them. Each one lost its bug-eye headlamps for a flat nose with pop-ups, a look taken from the 935 race car, which competed in FIA’s Group 5 Special Production category from 1976 through 1981

This Kremer 930 combines a black fabric top with bodywork in Brilliant Red, and a matching set of five-pointed wheels with chrome trim rings. The turbocharged 3.3-liter flat-six and five-speed manual have logged 12,675 miles. It also boasts a $5,000 sound system, which is fine for spinning ‘Autumn’ by Vivaldi, but your ears will likely enjoy hearing the turbo-six even more.

1986 Porsche Kremer 930

The lovely Kremer 930 is just one of over 500 lots heading for the auction block during the Fall Carlisle, itself scheduled for October 2 through 6. The affair is the closing ceremony for the Carlisle Events 2019 season, anchored by a massive flea market with tons of vendors selling nearly anything you can think of, including a few Porsche parts and memorabilia.

And if auctions aren’t your thing when it comes to finding a new Porsche to call your own, the Carlisle Car Corral might be for you. With notary services on-site, it’s all a matter of signing a check and driving away with your new ride.

A full pass to the Fall Carlisle is $35, while a single-day ticket is just $12 Wednesday through Saturday, $7 on Sunday; children under 12 enter free.
