DP Motorsport 930 Turbo with a flat-nose 935 body conversion, RUF turbo engine, and RUF transaxle is a Porsche dream.

It’s not often you’ll stumble on a car that the majority of the automotive world will agree is cool. However, this remarkable DP Motorsport 930 Turbo is a high contender for being that very scenario. More often than not, modified cars are not-so-fondly looked at by purists. Certainly, the Porsche community is no exception. However, there are a handful of modifications that many folks do agree on. It isn’t to everyone’s taste, certainly. However, we think that anyone can appreciate this awesome 930.

This 1979 Porsche 911 Turbo is currently for sale on Bring A Trailer. It originally sold brand new in Munich, Germany, towards the end of 1978. Now, it’s just as far from home as it is far from stock. However, that gives fortunate U.S. Porsche fanatics and collectors a chance to buy this thing without having to pay for import duties or shipping. Don’t get too excited, though. At the time of writing, the auction has 11 days remaining and as already amassed bids to scrape the $200,000 mark.

According to the listing, this car wound up with DP Motorsport modifications in 1980. These changes include the Flachbau (flat nose) front-end conversion, vented quarter panels, flared fenders, and revised bumpers. Additionally, it includes the outstanding side skirts and the iconic rear wing. The bodywork is reminiscent of the legendary 935 racecars. The car also features some other racecar-related modifications, too. This includes a MOMO steering wheel, heavily bolstered seats with fantastic plaid inserts, a roll bar, and a fire extinguisher.

If you’re not fond of cars with racecar-like modifications that don’t have the power to back them up, there’s great news. Under the decklid of this gorgeous Guards Red 930 sits a RUF-modified 3.3-liter turbocharged flat-six engine.  Additionally, it sends the power to the ground through a RUF five-speed manual transaxle. So, make no mistake, this DP Motorsport 930 Turbo is not for the faint of heart.

In 2020, this car made its way from the Netherlands to the U.S. Now, a dealer in Florida is happy to give you the chance to purchase it. It’s offered with with importation documents, a Porsche Certificate, DP Motorsport correspondence, Dekra and TÃœV paperwork, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean Florida title.

Certainly, if you’re after something a bit unique and more than a bit exciting to drive, this 935 “imposter” is a fantastic car to consider purchasing. Though we can’t put a good estimate on what the final hammer price may be, we can certainly assure you that we’ll be watching to find out how much it sells for.
