California Festival of Speed

Porsche Club of America sure knows how to put on a show.

If you’ve never been to the California Festival of Speed in Fontana, you might be in for a bit of a treat. Because the show, despite the name, is put on by the Porsche Club of America, which means that the event, which takes place at the Auto Club Speedway, is a week-long Porsche lover’s dream.

Pretty much every kind of Porsche ever made is on display in Fontana, from vintage race cars to newer street machines. PCA even pieced together a special display this year which encompassed every generation of 911. Special and rare Porsches were seemingly a dime a dozen this year.

If you missed out on the event, Automobile has a nice gallery summarizing some of the nicer finds at the show. There were, of course, plenty of air cooled 911’s to be seen. But they were supplemented with a nice array of modern machinery. The mag even spotted a 50th anniversary 911, one of only 1,963 built. And of course, at least a couple of tractors.

Lest you get tired of looking at all of the amazing machines, there’s plenty of racing to be seen. Both new and old hit the track throughout the day, serenading you with the various sounds of Porsche magic. Indeed, the California Festival of Speed is a surreal event for sure. And it’s one that you’ll want to pencil in on your calendar for next year.
