992 GT3 Offers Over $75,000 In Options, So We Built An Expensive One

With carbon fiber, lighting, interior, and performance options, the price of a 992 911 GT3 can soar to well over $200,000 rather quickly.

Though the 992 era of the iconic Porsche 911 thrives on since its debut for the 2019 model year, the 992 GT3 kept us waiting until early 2021. However, it is now official that the GT3 will make its triumphant move into the 992 generations with the model year 2022.  Its starting price is $161,100. However, as one might expect, available options are ready and waiting to push the purchase price far above and beyond that base price. Though we weren’t sure to what extent until recently, we now know just how hefty the price tag of a 992 GT3 can get.

The 992 GT3 is currently available on Porsche’s model builder tool on their website. That means you can now start with a GT3 and build yourself the track weapon 992 of your dreams.  Though, we must warn you, high-quality materials like leather and carbon fiber do not come cheap. To demonstrate, we let our imagination run a little wild with the 992 GT3 “Build Your Porsche” tool.

Porsche knows that a 911 GT3 is a dream car for many people. That being the case, they want to be sure you get your dream car in your dream color. This immediately leads us to the single most expensive option you can get with your 992 GT3; A custom paint-to-sample finish. That’s right, if you want it to match your Tiffany Blue leather handbag or perhaps the puce inserts inside your Armani suit jacket, Porsche would be glad to make that happen. That is, however, only if you’re willing to cough up the $12,830 that this option costs. Red is not our first choice, but it is the sit-in color that the builder tool substitutes for whatever your custom color may be.

To accent our custom finish, we’ve added a carbon-fiber roof for $3,890, the motorsport stripe over the hood and roof for $680, and the GT3 model designation door stickers in black for $310. Additionally, the LED-Matrix Design headlights are only another $4,010. We might as well throw those on while we’re here! Though you can’t see them all too well, we’ve also added the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake package with black painted calipers for another $10,110. That marks two options on our car over five figures! Also fitted is the front axle lift system and the extended range fuel tank, costing $3,670 and $230.

Interior Elegance

Obviously, we had to spec our car with the optional six-speed manual transmission. Please feel free to berate us about the PDK being faster and more efficient. We know. However, there is a reason a manual transmission is still an option. People want it, and we are those people. That option is free, too!

What isn’t free is the full bucket seat option, which comes in at $5,900. We added ambient lighting for $580, Silver Grey seatbelts for $360, Guards Red central Tachometer for $420, and the full line of Race-tex options totaling somewhere around $2,000. Furthermore, the extended dash and trim leather package adds $3,270. Of course, the pebble grey leather air vent surrounds and slats were a must at $2,070. Interior trim in high gloss carbon fiber is another must-have for $1,600. Bose surround sound tacks on $1,600. Lastly, who could live without the $1,040 carbon fiber owner’s manual wallet? Nobody, that’s who.

Other options we’ve added include rear Park assist for $610 and traffic sign recognition for $450. They may not be useful on a race track, but why not get them for the occasional Sunday morning cruise for a coffee, right? To top it all off, we’d splurge the extra $1,045 for delivery at the Porsche Experience Center in sunny Los Angeles, California. This brings the grand total for our beloved 992 GT3 to a whopping $243,365. That’s a monumental $82,265 more than the base price.

If you’re going to pull the trigger on the Porsche of your dreams, you might as well go all out, right? Let us know what you think of our GT3 and how you’d spec yours out. One thing is for sure; there are so many options available that two owners having identical 992 GT3s is fairly unlikely.
