 Porsche - 70 Years

Stroll, er, actually we mean speed down memory lane with rare, historical images and in-depth analysis of the world’s greatest automobile.

Plenty of automotive manufacturers have colorful histories, but arguably none as storied as Porsche. Over 70 years, the German stalwart has stayed true to its roots, producing one amazing car after another. That success on public roads is buoyed by unparalleled success on the track. So, if you’re going to write a book about the iconic company’s history, it goes without saying that it better be darn good.

And by all accounts, Randy Leffingwell’s Porsche 70 Years: There Is No Substitute is really darn good. Published by Quarto Publishing Group UK, the book provides drool-worthy eye candy in the form of detailed illustrations and stunning photography. Many of them rare and historical. But Leffingwell, with the help of Porsche, also spent a great deal of time constructing in-depth analysis surrounding the manufacturer’s most important cars and milestones.

From the 356 to the modern-day 911 and Boxster, it’s all there. And of course, there is plenty of motorsports coverage, too. Considered one of the industry’s top automotive historians, Leffingwell was able to gain access to information and illustrations that few others could. He has a close working relationship with the automaker and has authored 47 titles to date.

Among his many motorsports titles, several have centered around Stuttgart’s finest. They include Porsche 911 50 Years, The Complete Book of Porsche 911, Porsche: A History of Excellence, and Porsche Turbo. All of Leffingwell’s books deserve a spot on any enthusiast’s coffee table or book shelf. However, you’ll have to wait until the fall to get your hands on a copy of Porsche 70 Years: There Is No Substitute, which will be released on September 28.

Porsche 70 Years: There is No Substitute by Randy Leffingwell is published by Motorbooks, an imprint of The Quarto Group. Published 28th September 2017 and available to pre-order now by clicking here.
