The Porsche 911 GT2 RS Has Enough Power to Melt Your Face Off
If you like high performance Porsche 911, then you will love this one, despite it trying to melt your face off. Meet the most powerful street legal Porsche 911 on the road today.
1. Engine
As if the Porsche 911 GT3 RS wasn't powerful enough with its 500-horsepower, the GT2 RS is here to blow your mind. Equipped with a 3.8-liter flat-six twin-turbo motor, this Porsche produces a total of 700-horsepower. The 200 extra horsepower come mainly courtesy of two much larger turbo-chargers, making it the fastest street-legal Porsche 911 ever produced.
2. Performance
This fastest street-legal Porsche 911 can go from 0 to 60 mph in only 2.7-seconds, .6 seconds faster when compared to the GT3 RS with its 0 to 60 mph run in 3.3-second. It is obvious the two larger turbos make quite the difference, contributing an extra 553 lb-ft of torque to the effort. The rear-wheel drive only GT2 RS has a top speed of 211 mph, which is 11 mph more than the GT3 RS.
3. Power to Weight Ratio
The Porsche GT2 RS weighs 3,241 pounds, with the tank full, which makes for a power to weight ratio of 4.63 pounds for each horsepower. If this is not light enough for your taste, Porsche offers the Weissach package, which features a set of lightweight forged magnesium wheels, magnesium roof, carbon-fiber axle links, and lighter anti-roll bars, making for a power to weight ratio of just 4.57 pounds for each horsepower. Remember, just like in golf, lower is better here.
4. Other Notable Features
Working to control the power of the twin turbo 3.8-liter boxer 6 engine, is a 7-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (dual clutch) transmission, which allows for near instant gearshifts in PDK sport mode, or full automatic if you prefer. Complementing the extreme power, the GT2 RS comes standard with Porsche Ceramic Composite brake rotors, which allows for extremely fast and safe braking under driving conditions like those at the Le Mans 24 Hours. Finally, all GT2 RS cars feature the new independent exhaust system, which offers titanium silencers in the back, but can let out a mean roar when the turbos are in effect if you prefer.
5. Release Date and Price
The 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS could not be any more eagerly anticipated by those with a need for speed and too much money in the bank. With such power, the GT2 RS puts the 911 in a whole different category that allows it to compete favorably with the top super cars. If you want one of these new beasts, you can expect it at your nearest dealership in the first quarter of 2018. Call your broker in the Cayman Islands and tell him to liquidate some assets and forward you $293,200 for your new Porsche.
