Starting the 2018 L.A. Auto Show with a bang, 2020 Porsche 911 debut reveals more power, new technologies, and timeless spirit.

The 2018-19 international auto show season is in full swing in Southern California, where the latest and greatest are under one roof at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. We at Rennlist are combing the floor to find the best Porsche-related stories to present to you, and it doesn’t get any better than this story.

After months of anticipation, the 2020 Porsche 911 not only bowed at the L.A. Auto Show, it was also the first car to be revealed in Los Angeles to all gathered in attendance.

Three models were on display at the Porsche booth, including this yellow 911 Carrera 4S. Like the other two, the yellow 911 hides a brand-new turbocharged flat-six under the vertical LED brake light, featuring bigger turbos, a revamped cooling system, and, in a first for Porsche, piezo injectors for improved performance. The result for the Carrera S models is 443 horses and 390 lb-ft of torque carried to the road through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a top speed of 190 mph.

You can’t have a Porsche display without at least one 911 in silver, which the lone 911 Carrera S wears well. The evolved exterior design is wider, with both rear- and all-wheel drive models having the same bodywork. The front end of the new 911 brings back the dip near the windshield found in older 911s, and the doors feature handles that pop out when needed, then retract into the bodywork for improved aero.

It’s been a long time coming, but we’re finally happy to see the 2020 911 in person. We can’t wait to see the latest evolution of our beloved icon hit the road in every guise possible, from the Carrera to the GT3 RS.
