1970 Porsche 911 Racer Deserves to Get Back on Track
After some early racing success, this Porsche 911 sat dormant for years. Now it just needs a new owner to save it!
Race cars, like race car drivers, live their life one apex at a time. After all, racing is just something you never get out of your blood. And we like to imagine that cars feel the same way. Well, maybe racing is more in their oil than their blood, but you get the picture. So when we spotted this forgotten 1970 Porsche 911 over at the The Collector Car Network, we immediately felt its (imaginary?) pain.
The car underwent its transformation from street to track back in 2004-2005, starting out small as the owner learned the ropes. With some track time under both of their belts, the car was upgraded to full SCCA GT-2 spec. It quickly ascended the ladder, finishing first in the 2007 points standings. One year and many upgrades later, it was on to NASA Mid Atlantic. But then, just as quickly as this Porsche 911 (and its driver) rose to fame, both of their motorsports careers ended abruptly.
Thanks to, according to the seller, those dreaded “marital affairs.” Ugh. An attempt at resurrecting the car in 2016 got the car mechanically ready, but the same could not be said for the driver’s health. And thus, this once proud Porsche 911 racer is now seeking a new owner.
