Fast and Furious Paul Walker killed in CGT

Burning Brakes
This image clearly shows that the car is indeed broken in half.
We've seen that these CF monocoque can break apart quite easily if hit at the right spot by a solid object. Remember that white Aventador accident from several months ago? Broken clear in 2 pieces on a relatively low speed accident.

... OMG .. the scene looks like one taken from a small aircraft crash !!! .........

I found the exact spot on the map and it is after a slight bend. I know the driver was quite experienced, but they left the event with cold tires. The temp was 73 degrees. They drove 1300ft so the tires were probably only 7o degrees. We all know that those tire temps are not ideal. Given that, and lots of power...well...Or who knows if they came around the turn hot and someone pulled out and they had to react sending them into a violent spin.

Like many have said- "Our prayers are today with the families of Roger Rodas and Paul Walker. And may the two victims rest in peace"
Living in the Philippines and know that they were on the way to a Charity Event for this country just makes it sadder.

Read that he died in a Porsche last night, but didn't know it was a GT. Very sad, I liked a lot of his movies.

Carrera GTs are obviously VERY serious machines that failed recess ...they don't play well.
Carrera GT = Instrument Flight Rules level of commitment.
Not for play days.

RIP Paul. So sad for the wife/kids they leave behind. Is there something inherently less stable/reliable in a CGT than in other similar supercars?

think Eduardo's (Z356) comments are probably very prescient. Snap oversteer under acceleration or lift off would leave figure eight rubber marks as the car spun. Sadly very easy to make a mistake

I can't help being surprised that the car burst into flames like that. In movies we see cars explode into flames for dramatic effect. Not in real life.
Or so i thought.

so sad,
checking the location, looks like they hit the lamp pole, took it down, split the car, ruptured gas tank, then settled against the small tree about 20 ft away,. it looks like they hit the pole on the drivers side
map..

I'm no insider or anything, but I keep hearing they were doing doughnuts, lost the car and the impact was initially to the passenger side of the car before it exploded.
Either way, I feel awful for both families. RIP.

I've been in a 350z sideways at 92 MPH (i read the digital speed indicator right before the idiot driver I was with lost it) and went in and out of a ditch, then directly into a tree with impact hitting the front right wheel and digging into my door.
The car did not split in half.
So there's a CGT split in half with much more structural rigidity than my example accident--split in half--yet it was going at 45 MPH?
Come on. Don't be afraid to call a dumbass out when you see one.
Public road. Car split in half. The driver does not seem innocent to me. In fact, he seems quite a bit negligent to the safety of others.
I'm open to new evidence as it comes in, but that's what it appears IMHO.

Roger (driver) hit a pothole, lost control, hit a pole and died instantly. Paul died afterwards when the car was engulfed in flames is what I hear. So tragic.
He introduced and changed the way so much of my generation look at cars. I wonder what will happen to his collection.
RIP
