957 GTS Key Remote Range
I replaced the battery in my key fob last year and still noticed that the range to lock and unlock is really poor. Does anyone else experience this? Sometimes it's down to 10'. I do not have keyless entry

Typical. Hold the blade of the key to the point on your chin and try it. That makes your head part of the antenna for the key - and usually at least doubles (or better) the range. It looks goofy - but if you go to a BMW gathering, you'll see lots of people doing it. It becomes a habit after a while.

I have actually heard about that and have tried it but it doesn't improve the range. It really isn't a big problem as most of the time I am right next to the car when I want to unlock it. Sometimes when my hands are full and I want to lock it i forget to do it right away and end up having to walk back to the car just to lock it. Note- this is on a 1.5 yr old new fob from the dealer.

I find the most effective position under your chin is actually off to the side a little, about where you'd take your pulse from that artery.

When applying under your chin, be sure to wear your tinfoil hat.
Actually, the range problem is a blessing and probably designed on purpose.
It reduces the chance of some thief reading and spoofing your codes.

Your head has high resistance...I can't imagine it acting as anything but a signal obstruction....Anyway, my range was low and I tested my battery which read 2.6v.....This remote was brand new so I have to assume it had been sitting on the shelf for a while...I replaced it with a battery reading 3.1v and get at least 50 feet through glass.
