Default Convertible Top Timing

I recently replaced my convertible top drive mechanism with a used one now there seems to be an issue with the timing, it will not close fully and will not retract but stops in service mode. I hooked up a friends Durametric tool which can force open it all the way but there is something a miss somewhere.

Any help would be appreciated .

Thanks
Norm

It sounds like an adjustment issue.

Ask the same question at a Porsche Garage. I have been messing with mine for fours years on and off so I cannot advice you in any other way. Hopefully they can answer your question. I know you can move it manually but afterwards they have to be timed. Mine works correctly 80% of the time but that other 20% when it doesn't, has me baffled. Good luck.

Sounds like a timing issue on the top mechanism. If some components are manually moved (in isolation), the top sequence gets out of order.

A recalibration of the top may be needed.

The durametric can't do this. You need a PIWIS or PST2 system to do that. Call a Porsche dealer or a skilled independent shop that specializes in Porsche.

edit to add:
BTW, This Thread has links to the owners manual description of how to operate the top manually.

You will need the factory service manual and a ohm meter to calibrate yourself .It's not hard but the steps must be followed as prescribed in the manual .
