Default Best 18" wheels on a 996? Let the pics do the talking!

I have been looking for an extra set of wheels for my 2000 996. I am looking for nice 18", but keep getting frustrated when I find really nice ones, only to discover that they only come in 19".

So, any other RListers' who buckled the trend and are currently sporting a killer set of 18" wheels?

Let the talk begin, let the pics do the talking!

Buying rims for C2 is probably the most frustrating thing For 19" rim there just isn't the right tire (if u want to stay with same overall diameter). Pirelli used to make one in 305 size for 19" rims but offcourse now that i need it, they discontinued it. When you find the rim you like and the width that matches the stock or is wider a little, the offsets are wrong! Because they are alllll for wide body cars. The three piece knock offs usually are narrower than stock rims which i dont know why you would go with aftermarket. If anything you want wider! Having said all that i found something on tirerack that i like. The Superleggera III's. Not cheap, but still cheaper than most high end rims. On the other hand if you have 6 grand to blow, you won't go through any troubles at all. They will even do custom offsets for you. Good luck!

I'm looking forward to the pics also; I'm not fond of the polished wheels on the 40-year car and I am torn between narrow-body GT3 wheels or the standard Carrera wheels. Either way I am planning powder coating them in an anthracite or dark gray color.

Which either you decide upon. Go for something easy to clean. Not like mine Sport Classic 2. 18inch. They are a great looking wheel but a PITA to clean. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...ed=0CEQQ9QEwAQ

It's rare that I see an aftermarket wheel that I like better than the 2002-2004 Carrera II five spokes, or their close cousin, the five spoke 997 Carrera III's (shown). Unless I was looking for a high strength, very light wheel for track use...

I'm quite satisfied with the look of mine (colored OEM center caps added in the second photo). Relatively easy to clean.

Carrera III wheels in 18" have the slightly more muscular spokes than the carrera II
They're also very light weight but remember you need 5 or 7mm spacers up front to bring wheel to factory offset dimensions but worth every penny
