Talking Finally!!! Joined the 40th AE Club!

After many years of lusting after a 911, I am now the very happy owner of #1505. Needs a few things but looking forward to the journey.

Weather was crap all weekend here in Houston so didn't get to put many miles on her but will be looking forward to getting out and letting her breathe very soon.

Will also look into joining a local owners group (assuming there is one here).

Will post pictures when the weather cooperates.

I just passed 35K mile on mine and the porsche dealership put it this way to me... it's only 3600 including new clutch now vs 26k to replace the engine.... I just had them do it... good luck!

Sorry to hear the dealership use scare tactics to get Your $3600 bucks. I got 192,500 out of my original clutch and my IMS bearing is still going. I went to many Porsche shops for general repairs and they all tried the scare tactic routine. I think by driving them all the time is the only way to get revenge on money spent and the pure pleasure of having such a great machine.

I thought I'd share my recent dyno on my 03' X51 with approx. 8k miles mostly track. Obviously not a 40th, but the motor's are duplicates. Factory X51 flash just reinstalled, straight pipes from OEM manifolds running Cali 91 octane. It was relatively cold out with the car loaded facing into the cold winds. Both the dyno operator and I felt there was another 5-10whp being restricted by those cold temps...

could be wrong, but I think usually cool temps give more power vs hot. it relates to air density, cold temps usually mean denser air which gives more power.

Not when the motor can't get up to temp. The ECU will pull timing until the motor's at operating temp....

I ordered and replaced the front half of my front wheel well liners. I used the parts catalog (DC Auto, PET, etc) to get the part numbers for a C4S. The parts (from Pelican) were:

996-504-123-00
996-504-124-00

Two rubber pieces (99650450402, 99650460401) come PREINSTALLED with the wheel well liners and don't need to be ordered separately. So, now I have a bunch of rubber molding bits that I'll just hold on to until I knock them off (again) at an autocross.

Replacement was easy in the driveway- floor jack, one jackstand, took one front wheel off at a time. You need a t25 torx, t27 torx, phillips screwdriver, and whatever your weapon of choice is for undoing those terrible plastic fasteners where you take the middle piece out and that releases the rest of it. It's a one beer job, and a good chance to inspect your radiators.

Hello Fellow 40th Anniversary owners...

Been awhile since my last post here... but been lurking around... My car just turned 11 years old since it was built on Jan 2004. Still drives like a dream and I continue to enjoy every second behind its wheel. And it just so happens that the car has now an older sibling to keep it company, in the form of a beautiful 1987 Carrera coupe in Grand Prix white I just picked a couple weeks ago.

It's amazing how the soul and essence of Porsche lives in them - there's something very similar in how they feel and at the same time they are so different in so many ways.

Hope life's good for all of you and you are continuing to enjoy your beautiful 40th Anniversary vehicles...

Here's some pics of the new to me Carrera (her nickname is "Glinda" - as in the good witch from Wizard of Oz)...

Cheers.

Did a little refurbing on the 911 this week. New serpentine belt, tensioner, lower control arms, alignment and got the dent out of the rear rim (pot hole hit) just like a new car again (228,000)
