BTW, does anyone have one of these "911" rocker panel guards for sale? Mine are scratched up.

Thanks, Paul

Default 2004 911 Anniverary Edition - luggage set

Cool. I was in the part dept and saw the set. I had to post the thread thinking someone would like to pick these up. Nice to hear a local OC AE owner grab them.

Are you going to PCA event in Temecula this weekend?

0334 will be there!

Its kinda funny how they never tracked the owner down to get him his set, and than were willing to profit off it, at his loss. They should probably mail a check to that previous owner for 1300.

Have to say I had the exact same thought. The dealer obviously had the customer's contact info. Who knows, maybe they did and the customer never responded.......very doubtful but I'll admit to a having a predisposed negative attitude towards dealers!

You guys are absolutely right.

Frankly this dealership is quite snobby these days. It wasn't always so and I have been a customer for nearly 40 years.

They typically will not lift a finger unless you have a new car with credit card in hand. They know virtually nothing about older Porsches, even 996's.

It's a little sad that dealerships don't know much about anything except what's on the lots. That's the way it seems here anyways too. We can't even get any reps or ANYONE from the dealership to come to PCA events even if we buy them dinner or something. They used to pay membership fees for the first year to PCA but now we no longer have anyone automatically added to the list like they used to...Porsche exclusivity isn't what it used to be.

Agreed, though I don't think it's really Porsche's fault. I'm guessing much depends on who owns/manages the individual dealership.

Steve - got mine! For what Porsche charged for this little thing you'd think that there would be a remote-starter in the handle ;-) Ah, the truly unnecessary novelties that we Porsche owners simply must have...

Default Porsche After-Sales Training info on X51

Hi, everyone - I posted this on the FB page today. I came across an after-sales training brochure that Porsche used, presumably to educate sales staff regarding the 996, 997, 986 and 987. Here's the link to the whole brochure (it's a straight download when you go to this address): https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...83339334,d.aWw

The pertinent pages are in the attached pic. I think that the 340 HP is clearly a typo, as they have the correct conversion of 254 kW. This is a nice, concise description of the X51 modifications to the standard 996 3.6 engine. Enjoy!

Well my additional cooling radiator installed at the front center of the vehicle is missing, I better take mine back and get it installed.

Had that comment on the FB page, too - I said that the third radiator is an owner installed item that Porsche put in the large suitcase of the 40th anniversary luggage set ;-)

And here I thought I was being original, lol, but seriously maybe they are at the dealer in the large suitcase waiting for all of us to swing by and pick them up. If it made it into a lot of documentation that there was a center radiator, there must have been plans on the table for one at one time or another.

Don't automatic c4S have a center rad? I know they are available for installation. I want one, but don't want to break the SCCA autocross rules.

Curious if anyone has removed the oil pan from our 40AE cars to confirm that in fact the x51 oil pan is there.

The reason I ask this is because all documentation indicates that the 3rd radiator came with the car and it's been confirmed that it does not. (Plus the suspension differences, but that may be a USA thing.)

I did.

The third radiator is just not there. Lots of misinformation. Even in the 996 The Essential Companion.
