Question MaxJax?

Anyone have any experience with this product? Looks pretty interesting, but want some real world feedback. This should suit my needs since I cannot install a full size 2-post or 4-post lift

pretty slick and compact.
looks slow, but its not likely you will be using it everyday.
I would be a little concerned about how well the ancors are secured into the floor...if those fail it would be BAD.
didnt see the cost.. did you?

Have not shopped it that hard yet, but asedeals has it for $2200

"Anchor Bolt Stress Analysis" data on anchors is at their site

Biggest draws for me are
  • portable
  • doesn't go so high as to pose a problem
  • only require ~4" of concrete
  • gets me off my back when doing work

He's even working on a C4S!

I watched the vid.....(naturally)...
its pretty nice that its portable and short. Both would be a big issue if I was in the market.
I think a regular 4 post lift installed is quite a bit less. Redridge has one, you might check if they have optional "shorter" lifts....

or just go over to Dell's

I need to verify the dimensions, but I think a 4 post is too tall for where I would be lifting, and obviously its not portable

There are other options. Have you looked at mid-lift scissor lifts from BendPak and other models from BendPak?

I have, and it looks like to me the access on 2 post is better.

I considered the scissor route, but then I worried about being able to drive over it all the time.

I've owned a 4 poster for 3 years now and thank the day my wife asked me why I didn't have a lift? I figured it was an approval. I had to decide on 4 or 2 posts. Ended up with 4 because it would allow me to store another car in the garage and used less room 'side to side'.

REALLY enjoy using it on maintenance and restorations. But I still wish at times I had a 2 post lift when I'm working on suspension items or want more accessablility. The ability of the lift to be 'moveable' is interesting but would take about 20-30 minutes to just to set up. Not sure if that would be too big of a pain. Thinking about it.

Would be interesting to see/try the lift in person to observe the strength.

Wouldn't want a day like this. (yes I know it wasn't the lift's fault- but they did sell the car 'as-is' on eBay)

No no no not that color!

A lot of the military do it yourself auto care centers have these sorts of lifts installed. I'm an at least 2 or 3 trips around the car lining the lift up then after slight contact double checking and backing off if I see anything questionable. I advise taking your time and breaking stuck lug nut torques before raising. One aspect I remember when driving between this sort of lift at a self care location is you might be adjusting the position of the car forward and back till in the sweet spot for lifting. If you are doing more than one car with this lift maybe have moveable chalks for near spot on parking before lift.

Default falling car

what people fail to relize is that the car is rear engine is and must be loaded the oppisite way, that why it fell off. i have seen a few people load their cars (porsche 911) with 2 post lifts and not fall off, but push on the car the wrong way and the same can happen. all the weight must go toward the shorter arms if you have asymetrial lift.

be carefull

I have just unloaded this lift from the delivery truck (maxjax), I will let you know how it is once it is installed. I mostly wanted it for the portability, when the lift is not being used I have the entire floor to work in.

I just leave my maxjax bolted down. It's never really gotten in the way since I only have a car in the garage to work on it, I do detach the far side hydraulic line and roll it up. Definitely use a concrete anchor epoxy with the anchor bolts.

Pictures of your new Maxjax please? Any feed back? Would you mind sharing the cost $$$ + install? I'm looking for a lift and need some feed back.
