Default PMO ITB's, DC 43 cam, JIC, Electromotive TEC3R, etc

So I want to update some of you on my build. It has taken sometime now to get the build moving because of the lack of parts. I initially hoped to have ordered all the parts when my car broke down, but discovered some lacking parts like bottom end gaskets. My mechanic took off the cylinders forgetting that I just had the head gasket kit and no bottom end gaskets!

So I think it will get done in two weeks time. Its like a daunting task already from the electrical side. Looking at the wiring harness supplied by Clewett makes me dizzy already.

I will be installing direct fire ignition so no more dual dizzy's for me.

As some of you may know, what started initially as a cam and chip mod ended up to this! My car broke down due to the wiring harness recall that the PO never did. That fried my ecu. So that gave me a reason, ha.ha.., to pursue this build. I dont intend to get mega hp from this setup, but more on the quality of the driving experience. I think the sound and the response will be good enough for me!

John D advised the cam for me. I wanted the most aggressive cam that the ITB could take. Since it will also be driven in the street, he advised the DC 43. Some tuners over here say I could have gone bigger, but I think I would trust John on this.

These are the parts going in.

Engine:

DC 43 cams(Some say it mild at 12.5mm in lift!)
Mechanical lifters, valve spring and titanium retainers from John D.
New valve guides
New clutch kit
RS LWF
50mm PMO Throttle Body kit
TEC-3R ECU
TEC-3R un-terminated wire harness
Direct Fire Units 6 cylinder
Power Harness - TEC-3
sensor kit Sensor kit, 964 - MAP, MAT, wide band EGO, sensor
& injector connectors
Up-Grade CAM Sync Adapter & Sensor
Spark Plug wire Set
Coil Mounting Platform, Dual Plug
Fuel Rails
Air Horns
Manifolds
Linkage
Air Filters
TPS Sensor & connector
Insulators
Fuel Pressure Regulator, 30-70 PSI
Fuel Line FUEL line kit
42#High Injector, 42# High Resistance, Bosch
ITG Air Filter & Base Plate for PMO
1 3/4 inch headers put in already

Suspension

JIC coilover

Interior

Rothsport momo steering wheel

I will update this thread once I get more updates. Just came from the shop and took some pics of the ITBs. Only one side was on! LOL...

But the ITBs are surely a work of art.

Oh, how I would love to have six of those little trumpets staring at me when I opened the engine lid!

Yeah its a sight to look at! I dont want to put aircleaners on. LOL. I wonder where Singer got those air cleaners on his 9M engine? Or rather where Colin got them.

Sounds like a lot of fun!!

How high do you plan on revving the engine? How do you use this car? Daly driver, weekend toy or track?

That cant be done. I asked Steve Weiner and he said it is not possible. The motronic is quite old in design and cannot keep up with the ITB setup.

Nickymysta - My car is not a dd but I use it like a dd. So I didnt want too an aggressive cam. Weekend fun runs with friends and the occassional trackday. I intend to increase my rev limit to 7k. I usually shift at 6.5k so the engine will not be too abused.

I want to start making it loose some weight so that will be my focus once this is done. Ill also get a guards lsd in the near future.

Just came back from the shop today and took some pics. The engine is mounted on the car. They still need to install the wiring harness, DFI's etc. We are scheduling next week to install the harness, then start tuning the car in the dyno.

I have to figure out a way to re-route the aircon hoses. It wrecks the view!

The red platform is where the DFI's will be mounted.

Beautiful red sparkplug wires!

My JIC is hiding from the viewfinder! Cant wait to try them.

Thanks Steven. You were one reason why I went with an aftermarket ecu Well that then led to the ITBs.

So sweet.

I think Emeralds old 95 with the 96+ AC hoses over the fan looked pretty clean.

BTW this picture made me wonder until I figured out what I was actually seeing.

Thanks M for the suggestion! Yeah overlooked it. The old one indeed is annoying.

Camlob,

What are your expectations on the additional requirements / issues that the ITB could bring about? For instance, will you need to rev the engine for a little while before taking off on cold starts? Also, do they require frequent adjustments?

I am very anxious to see hear your impressions once the project is done!
