Currently own a GT4-- on waiting list for the 991.2 GT3.
Looking for a DD for the next few years. I am seriously contemplating a base C2 with nothing-- not even Sports Chrono. What do you guys think about a barebones base with nothing? I don't want to waste any money on upgrades I could use towards the GT3.
Am I nuts?

Nope you're not... the standard Carrera is not really just a basement bottom dweller model anymore. It's quite quick, performs very well, and comes loaded with goodies from the getgo.
This is exactly what I did and I also have a deposit on a future .2 GT3 allocation so in the meantime I picked up from dealer inventory a 103k-msrp .2 Carrera with a manual. There were a few options I didn't mind but I got it down to the mid 90k's after negotiations. No sport chrono neither but just enough sport-related goodies to make me happy including PSE which is a must for me. I was surprised they even had an M7 in stock... they said the Manuals are quite scarce since nearly all that are equipped with it are based on a customer's sold pre-ordered but they built one for inventory last minute as one of their last allocations. This one just arrived... and I took it home.

Lol okay one last pic... but you're going to like Guards Red since it looks sharp on the new .2 plus after all it's also one of Porsche's longtime signature standard color. I have a 25% grade tinted windows (tintfilm by Suntek) so obviously it enhances its sporty appearance.
Just waiting on the clear lens markers up front to arrive which the dealer threw in for free....

My pair of clear LED front marker lenses arrived & installed... gift from the dealer. Yesterday I installed the 991.2 S front chin splitter. Easy peasy... looks much better now than the standard one.

It's nice to get a gift from the dealer. I received zilch.

Base C2, I recently added led clear taillights and side marker lights, Fabspeed black chrome quad exhaust tips, and front sport spoiler lip.
