For some of us, that paranoia was developed from decades of experience. Sadly.
Indeed. And this is one of the many reasons why I want a list of the 20 VIN's.

Three Wheelin'
What is everyone's consensus on posting vins? My personal take is that it really is not that hard to find the VINS anyways and I think it would be a service for those to keep an eye out for in many years to come, not that I think that these are problem cars because I have a different view point on them. I would love one of these for a track use at a specific price but of course the good old free market spoke on these. I've been quite a bad guy in the past and don't want to disturb the peace any more I am just trying to provide useful info? If many feel otherwise I won't post, but dealers have easy access to vins and so do non Porsche dealers/wholesalers?

Just so it doesn't come of as I'm just a general hater... There are dealers, salespeople, sales managers, GSM's, GM's, etc., that are awesome. Those are the ones that continue to get my business. It's more of a relationship than anything else.

My word! The skepticism on this thread from folks (who do NOT own a 991 GT3) amazes me!
Keep things simple, the cars are not lemons, dealers bid for them in a closed auction and were eventually sold at or above MSRP. Dealers who bought them obviously intend to make a profit on them (see Hennessy listings).
For those here who want to read more into this and create doomsday scenarios may just be wanting to justify their personal bias's or decision to buy the car or not!

To be honest, I always wonder why people are shy about their VIN's (not commenting about you, specifically). I can walk up to any car in public, and read off the VIN; it's not confidential information. Same with license plates*.
I'm already manually compiling a list of these cars,. It shouldn't be too hard to manually do it as they start to pop up on Cars.com / AutoTrader / PCNA's Used Car Locator. My belief is all us enthusiasts on Rennlist should know, especially if someone is trying to pass the car off as having a "normal" history. I don't think these cars deserve to be branded**, but they are, and we should be able to know what happened to them. Hopefully a buyer will review CarFax first, but more resources never hurt, and that's what I think this forum serves as.
(* One of the times I think it's Ok to be shy about plate #'s is if you're tracking your street car... Some insurance companies frown upon it, for some reason.)
(** There's nothing wrong with them! New engine. Extended warranty. Boom! Done. Buy one / keep yours, love it, enjoy it in good health.)

Am I in the 991 GT3 thread ? This kind of negative speculation is what you usually find on Corvette or Viper forums. After all many of us have gone thru with these cars i would think this would be VERY POSITIVE news, it is for me.

Indeed. I'm surprised that they sold for as high as they did, but they did because they expected to (still) turn a profit.
Whether or not they do, is another story all together. Dealers don't always make as juicy of a profit as they were hoping to on each used car they sell.
Still, it would've been a truer test of values if it was an open wholesale auction, not a closed private / Porsche-dealer-only auction.
