Let's not forget that they also added the targa 911 variants to the same line. It could be part line capacity and part corporate decision?

I guess we'll know in a few months for sure.

I suppose other speculative considerations may include that both GT3 and RS cannot be manufactured simultaneously from a parts supply point of view, since there may be critical shared parts which are available in limited numbers from suppliers. For instance, there were a few rumours the new-and-improved GT3 bolts (and perhaps more of the engine/motor/engine/motor) are RS derived. Also it is possible that influential markets (including Germany) are seeing the demand for the GT3 turning down and this may be influencing strategic planning globally. I wouldn't be surprised if the talk of February end is indeed correct. It will have been a fittingly storied run for an epic car, and both car and its infamous history will no doubt be talked about for a long time. I'm glad I got to witness this first-hand, even if it meant I had to take my lumps for a while.

I won't be surprised if 991.1 GT3 production ends to make way for the RS in larger numbers this time around.

I think most customers who buy the GT3 would opt for the RS if both were simultaneously available.

You may be right on the first point. We'll see.

As for the second, given the much wider than previous price difference that is expected between the RS and GT3, and the fact that the new RS may be much less street friendly, I'm not sure I agree.

I agree with Mike here. I have a reserve on a RS slot however I'm fairly confident that the spec and price will not be for me....shall wait and see....

Still speculation, but Porsche Exclusive highly recommended that I keep my current allocation, rather than try to get a PTS slot in February...

I was told that the reason my PTS Feb GT3 was initially approved and then disapproved (w/ production returned to Nov 14) is that GT3 production will now finish by December 2014, not February. This came from PCNA via my dealer. Take it FWIW.

Double wow! My 2015 goes into production 9/7, and my dealer confirmed this is the first lot of true 2015 not a carry over 2014. Will be interesting to see what happens.

it's amazing how people are giving so much credence to the word of a dealer. My kid sister knows more about a Porsche than the average dealer.

Until I see something in writing from PCNA etc I take everything with a grain of salt. Just think of what motives dealers may have to stoke these rumors, and people should stop quoting them either way. It's certainly great for them to sell cars 30K over MSRP to the panicky crowd. It's so human nature, if there's a long line to get an Iphone, then every Isheep has to have to one too.

Can't call out the dealer. It's PCNA/Germany that gives direction to the dealers and sometimes the info is too fluid, so we then speculate.

Yep have to agree I have been informing my dealer of what is going on with the GT3s not the other way around. Sure is fun to speculate though!
