So the bargain is that the dealer makes money on three transactions while the buyer rides in a .1GT3 at a cost less than MSRP and finally a .2GT3 at MSRP. Also, the buyer could throw in a promise to sell back the .2GT3 to the dealer. Thus the dealer makes money on four transactions.
If one wants one badly enough, there's always a way.

Think creatively. Nick knows.

I am #2 and have submitted build but no confirmed allocation yet. The configurator has some new options I noticed though.

What a great thread with some damn good comments. Worth all the reading.

Back when I joined here, I learned quickly to just listen to Mooty. Money talks...

Allocation Update:
have my name on 5 "lists".....supposedly.
Deposit at one dealer.
No updates yet from any of the dealers with allocations.

I have had good phone calls with the dealers between the coasts and not in CA. Basically I told them that I am a $300 plane ride away and will arrange my own pickup and transportation. Not a heavy price to pay to get a car. But...still waiting.

When the allocation comes we probably get a phone call saying sorry you can only order PDK now. Do you want to wait for MT? And the saga continues.

It's interesting that I haven't done business with any dealerships closest to me. I've been treated well by the long distance relationships. I'll just keep paying for shipping.

A friend of mine works for Porsche North America. He mentioned that there is a centralized database for these dealer lists. The dealers all put their names from these lists into a site hosted by Porsche NA, and that identifies any duplicates (i.e. People who show up across multiple dealers) and brands those people as flippers. Hope there aren't many here with a scarlet letter next to their name with the mothership.

It kinda sounds like he's talking about the V070 entries.

That's been discussed here before and seems to be a system the dealers can use to weed out who has multiple deposits and won't likely take every car.

When people here are talking about being on lists, that doesn't mean the dealer has created a V070 entry for them or that PCNA knows they exist.

^^ Right, I am technically on 2 lists. 1 I have V070 and the other I haven't even been called since I am #10 or so. If the second dealer calls I will tell them that I have a V070 status with someone else. Not risking get black listed and not that greedy. However, it wouldn't be hard to put it under your wife's name if you desired.

I doubt Porsche has a clue as to who is on a dealer list nor do they care. Its the dealers decision as to who gets an allocation. As to how many allocations dealers get, as has been stated before, there are a number of factors some of which we are not privy to.
