Irregular front tire wear
The GT3 had a trip to the dealer and they have pics of my front tires with excessive wear. The insides of the tires have worn down to the point of showing wires. I have 17,000 miles on the tires with no track usage. The dealer is realigning the front so that this does not happen again. They cite that this is normal in a daily driven GT3. How can the tires wear that much in those few miles? Wonder if the front end was out of alignment when I bought it? What do you think?

17.000 miles for one set of tires sounds extreme.
I don't think I ever had more than 2000-3000 miles from one set of tires on any of my 911's. And I can even say none of my GT3 engines lasted that long.
I believe GT3 default camber setting can cause wear like this with so many miles off track.

17k miles!?!?!? You may have the record for most miles on a set of tires. Your dealer will probably dial back your camber to zero to even out the tire wear. I would buy a set of mpss or the new continental extreme contact sport tires for your use. You'll get double the miles.

Good advice. Use Super Sport instead of Cup 2. You'll have better "all around" grip, pay less and will only need next set on 45000 miles. Win-win-win.

FYI - the break-in 4k rpm limit period for the GT3 is only 2k miles......
JK - the MPSS is definitely a better match for your driving style.
Congrats on actually using your GT3 as a daily driver!

17K wow impressive. I think this is a record on this car even for street use. Many of us here would love to know your secret. Even with street use and very very conservative driving, if you can get 10K, you have done very well sir. Good luck and I would not change a thing, except probably as others suggested to switch to Michelin Super Sports tires instead and I guess as you are now planning to do, as you will get a better use of these tires on the street and have better wet performance and not mentioning they are also cheaper. If you don't track your car or drive it very hard on back roads, there is no sense to use the cup tires which will heat cycle out well before you wear out your tires. Good luck. Mark
