Holset HX35 944 turbine

much more to it than that. these are custom T3 hotsides specifically machined to fit the holset turbine. you could make the replica hotside bolt on if you machined it to fit the hx3t turbine and chra. Then you need to fab a custom oil feed line and grind the throttle body, the intake manifold, and the turbo mount for clearance.

Would love a picture of the right hand two hotsides; the standard 4 bolt unit and the 3" Vband unit, but looking straight into the hotside from the Downpipe side looking in. I'm curious to see how the outlets compare.

I know one of my customers was welding on the V bands for the 944. But, I never mounted one. He ran his own up pipe. But, I'm pretty sure he still ran the oil return flange mount. So,,, I'm not 100%. I may have a hsg here you can check clearance with.
The 2 951's i have here have been modified. So no point on fitting it.

This is an HX40 Billet watercooled holset. We have the K26 stile turbine housing on it. It has been test fitted to our jig. But, not a car yet. I need a guinea pig. both of my 951's have been modified. So no point to see it if fits any of my set-ups. These units will sell for $1300 new. The tester gets it for $850. As long as it fits of course. All flanges should be correct. Also this compact compressor cover " should fit under the throttle body. Again this has no been tested.

Tim - sent you a PM. Not sure if you have a candidate yet. I _might_ be a viable option for you.

I'd have volunteered, but my engine is still on a stand. I can fit it to that setup if you'd like - stock mount, headers, crossover, downpipe, etc. The only piece of information missing would be the downpipe's alignment with the rest of the exhaust system. I could measure for clearance to the intake and alternator bracket, etc.

I'm interested. I don't know a lot about the Holset center sections. How well is this matched to a 2.5? I'm not really going for all out power; good street manners is preferred.
I have one of David Raines (Powerhaus) milled 26/8 with a 27 compressor wheel from way back in the day. It's been a good turbo (330/310 @20PSI on a relatively stock 2.5). I was planning on sending it out for a rebuild this spring, but this sounds like it may be a better option.
I haven't pulled my engine to reseal the balance shafts yet so I'd be willing to try it out.

This would be more of a 450hp target and up. It has a 60mm compressor wheel that flow 65lbs/min. and the turbine wheel is a 64mm. So on a 2.5 with little mods it will be laggy. But, I can do the same turbo in an HX35 or 35 40 hybrid. that will give much better spool on a 2.5L.

I'd be willing to do some fitment tests for you if you want to make a deal on the HX35 or whatever you think will be the best power to street manners compromise. My current turbo is certainly laggy.

If there is a significant difference on power or boost speed I would think there would be a good niche market for the matchups.
For me I would be interested in knowing what benefit there is over common options for the average 951 owners such as a K27-8? I have a blown head gasket to deal with in the spring and was planning on getting one and sending of to Charlie at Evergreen. It sounds like the 35 is more appropriate for a pretty stock 2.5, what kind of power/torque/full boost RPM are we looking at for a bolt on application? This would be at reasonable boost as I don't want to always be repairing the car.
I have a stage 1 intercooler, over sized throttle body with matching intake ported and matched up to larger throttle body, Vittese Racing MAF, 55# fuel injectors and 4" exhaust to install as well, which might affect what size I would choose, but I was just anticipating faster spool and throttle response out of those items to help out with a bigger turbo.
With all that said, my question really is what improvements would there be over a K27-8 or similar while bolting up and not causing undue stress on a stock engine? Feel free to PM me with price etc. but I don't plan on buying anything for a few months, but if I go to all the effort and cost, I would like to pursue the best option and not have regrets.

Hey Everyone, Just an update. I do have one hx35 in the field for test fitment. So i will let you know if it's a green light or back to the drawing board.
