Looks like a nice car overall. Will need a timing belt for sure but it looks like it has some real potential.

This is my car. Yes, it will need a timing belt/water pump. That's a function of the time the belt has been in service, not how the belt looks. I took the timing belt covers off recently and the belt and gears both look good.

I have had the usual issues with this car, as my posting history can confirm. I also had a minor fender bender a couple years ago, which I fixed with a new hood and paint. I'd agree with Guy that my car has great potential for someone who has the time I do not have to keep it up. Outside of bolster wear on the driver's side, the interior is in great shape, no cracks in the dash.

I think it's fairly priced at $7,500 but am open to offers. Thanks all!

That looks like a great price. Love the pic of the engine compartment...obviously a cared-for car. GLWS.

C'mon Rennlister! 1 more day! Someone here has got to show some interest in the best S4 year ('89) with all the right parts, right? Anyone? Someone's going to get a very good deal.

Hey Hoi,

I know you mention the paint being driver quality. And as an owner of a white S4 I know it's a bitch to photograph well. What are the defects that make the paint driver quality? From the pics it looks pretty damn good to me.

I have a friend that's looking for an S4.

That one is raising some red flags for me Nate. I don't believe the miles, based on all the little wear things I see in the engine bay and interior. Also, the broken things, like the windshield and hood release. Nothing big, but indicators nevertheless. And also in no small part, ad says no accident history, but yet various parts were repainted. Why would someone do that?
Looking at the engine bay, the intake is starting to fade out, indicating lots of heat cycles and miles. The radiator looks like a replacement, the oil filler cap is weird - like it was painted gold? Or just bad light on a very dirty cap? Anyway, I do not trust the miles. Timing belt done 14 years ago, and gawd, those wheels!

Yeah and Roger brought up some of those same points in the comments. As the years go by the more I appreciate well preserved cars that were regularly driven their whole lives verses ones that were just parked in a closet somewhere and never enjoyed. I agree on the wheels. Never liked BBS but they were all the rage when the car was new and are original to the car so I can respect that.

Hi Adam,

The paint is smooth but there is some overspray beneath the rear bumper onto the battery box and fuel pump cover.

While it's evident that the seals and most rubber parts were removed and replaced for the paint, there is an ever slightly white fade on the edges of the rear view mirror and the inside door panel on the top window inside the door jam.

On the spoiler, the very small crack in the paint to the left. After washing and waxing, the car is stunning. Is it a $10k paint job? No. But it's also not a $500 one neither.

With the included parts, it will make a reliable and nice runner with budget left over for interior. I just don't have time nor space to work on it now, or else I would keep it and slowly restore it.

Remember, at the end of the pics, there is a complete list of parts and service history that I have for this car.

Owner introduced himself here when he got the car last year from his long time friend and put on Panamera wheels with odometer being in ~30k miles. However the ad says ~20k miles now and he did not return my inquiry when I asked him what changed between Rennlist postings and the current ad. I can't seem to find the Rennlist postings now too, so maybe he erased them.

Manholes come with..still looks to be a well loved 86. It's in your area and appears to be worth checking on. Wish I liked Guards Red T
