Rob, have you used the PSD now to verify the pump is behaving ok?

Looking forward to your next installment of woodworking adventures ...

Hi Tom-

I spent some time dickering with the cleaned-up PSD pump from the Cobalt car but I was not successful in getting it to build pressure. When I had it apart I chickened out at the 'remove the eccentric plate' step of pump disassembly, as I couldn't get it out of the pump body. So I resorted to rotating the pump while blowing cleaner through it till it ran clean but upon reassembly it wouldn't 'pump'.

Mark being Mark, he had a spare motor and pump unit on the shelf, so I cleaned that up, swapped it onto the Cobalt's bracket/hardlines/valve body, bench bled it, and installed that unit in the car, then cleared the ABS/PSD faults with Theo's tool. Mark tells me it works just fine. (I couldn't see him activate it but I could hear the tire chirping on Miraloma...)

So- what's wrong with the door card/console piece pic I posted?

Yes, but the earlier center console pieces with the round clock have bigger cutouts for the hazard flasher (and extend up around the radio...) , so they won't work either. The insert in the pic is the 85-95 version.

The door cards are from an earlier 928. The '90-up models have two lines of stitching while the re-dyed (I know..........they're only temporary) door cards only have one. Did I Win? What did I win?

Not sure what you win, but that's a good point. I will have a nice spare Cobalt interior at the rate I'm going, ruining good stock parts...

OK, so that's 3 things I've gotten wrong. But no one has yet hit on the one thing that Mark immediately point out.

You painted the console insert blue...should have left it black to match the rest of the inner console pieces.

Rich.

YES. Without even thinking for a millisecond. Now it's going to look like the inside of a 2002 Z3M...

You didn't include an ashtray lid to go with the console insert.

edit: heh didn't even think about the colour of the insert.. all my S4's have had black ones, even the one with the "50" numbered leather covered parts, so I just always assumed other leather interior cars would have matching inserts too. Off to go check out pics of full-leather interiors to see

You'll have to ask Mark. But I'd be happy to paint any interior vinyl or leather part you have light gray or Cobalt.
