Greg, I just sold a set to a local who has an interesting Euro Hybrid set up. I told him tonight I'd contact you about a set. Through Roger or you, doesn't matter.

Same as the Euros, just with a different resistance.

They kind of over fueled the early cars. 19lb injectors would have been more than enough for a <240 Hp engine. I guess they just wanted us to put in the euro stuff to get some more power .

Funny story.

I ran out of injector clips, already! People quickly figured out these pieces are great for what we need to do.

I've got another 100 on order and I'm going to stop at Anderson's to see if he has any that are new, decent enough to ship, or replate. Plating takes time, so that won't help, immediately.

If you have extra clips I can ship you the adaptors and deduct the clips...or send you replacements when I get some....

Yes you did. Now I just need to figure out what injector to get.
Euro motor, L Jet, MSDS Headers, euro throttle body.

Hmmm.

Hmmm.
24 pounders should be a good place for you to be. They have enough "head room" that you should be fine. Unlike the stock injectors, which have a fairly poor response to increased fuel pressure, the newer design injectors tend to be very linear in their pressure response, so if you run out of fuel, you can always increase the fuel pressure to compensate. For your L-Jet engine, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator might be a very good fine tuning tool, anyway.

My thought is that my headers, which are done and ready for testing on these cars, are going to do exactly what they did for the S3 cars...make a bunch more horsepower. Thinking that 350 everyday flywheel horsepower is realistic. Everyday becomes an essential qualification, with people doing tuning with unrealistic cold intake air on cold engines to get "bragging horsepower" results, which then fail miserably in real world conditions.

I think I'm going to start with 30 pounders and Sharktune from there. The spray pattern from the newer 4 hole injectors is so much better, at low flow rates, that they are very easy to "tune" down.

This will also leave me with some "head room" for future planned performance improvements.

Default How to size injectors

I was wondering about this for when I buy some of these TypeII hats.

I remember from reading lots of Hot Rod Magazines way back when that along with HP number, they used to publish lbs of fuel consumbed by "horsepower hour" (BSFC) And a 1/2 lb/hr or better was always an indication of a decent engine. (I remember one article on a 454 built with Jim Feuling 2 valve heads got somthing like .35lbs/hour and it was a bit of a big deal.)

So I did some googling and confirmed my suspicion.

HP x BSFC / Cyl = lbs/hr per hole.

So, for me, I'd like to see Euro S numbers....

310 x 0.5 /8 = 19.375 lb/hr injectors

Add in another 20% for "headroom"....

19.375 x 1.2 = 23.25, or 24lb/hr injectors.

Big assumption on the BSFC number though.

I think your BSFC numbers are pretty close. I use the same formula to determine my fuel consumption in the plane. The big bore Porsche engine is barely working at highway speeds so there's quite a bit of pumping loss, as well as valve timing/duration loss so I would say between .475-.5 BSFC would be a safe number.

For the Euro cars, I've still got some of the Bosch 0 280 150 947 "Ford Motorsports" injectors (24 pounds). Should work perfectly for the stock engines....and I'd guess that they should be available on Ebay.

I've found that the Accel line of injectors seem to be quite nice and economical to buy new. I've used probably 10 sets of these, with zero issues.

150819....19 pounds.
150821....21 pounds.
150824....24 pounds.
150830....30 pounds.

All of these are $274 for a set of 8, from Summit.

For less than $500, you can have injectors, adaptors, O-rings, new fuel hoses and clamps.

Tough to go very far wrong with that!
Hi Greg, please contact me for a set. Thanks!

OMG, Brilliant idea. And it's so simple it makes you wonder why no one thought of it sooner. This could have saved me a ton of work with my megasquirt conversion. I made custom rails to fit a new style injectors. These hats would have made things so much simpler. Bravo Greg!!!
