If you’ve been following along at home — with Lesson 1, Lesson 2, Lesson 3, and Lesson 4 — you know that stud Porsche driver Patrick Long has been giving excellent pro tips to two very lucky enthusiasts. Well, now those enthusiasts get even luckier during the final lesson below.

In the “Driving lessons with the 911 R” grand finale, Patrick Long takes the boys to Col D’Aspin, one of the mountain passes used in the old Tour De France motorsport race (as well as the famed bicycle race). Long describes the pass as being “12 kilometers of the most enjoyable road on the planet. 55 corners, 700 meters of elevation.” To say nothing of the stunning views.

Oh, and, there’s not another soul on it. Just one absolutely stunning 911 R, Porsche’s new stripped-down driver’s car.

Long’s two proteges are more than ready for the challenge too, having spent all that time at Weissach’s testing ground, learning valuable lessons about seat position, oversteer, understeer, heel and toe, and the ideal line. You can really see all those tips come together, as these guys charge hard for the top of the pass — all while Long offers instruction whilst viewing from a helicopter above.

Of course, someone has to drive the 911 R down, which Long is more than happy to do, subtly letting our would-be racers know that they’re not pros quite yet.
