Why Does Nobody Make 305/30/18 Tires?
295/30/18 are a little stretched on 11" wheels and 315/30/18 fit a little too snug on my 993 C4S. But virtually no one makes a road tire in a 305/30/18 size. Why is that? It seems the demand is there...

Sorry, I can't answer your question, but 295/30/18 shouldn't be too much stretch for a 11" rim. Tire Rack says the rim range is 10" to 11", molded for a 10.5". Diameter is 25.0" though, compared to 26.3" on the 305/30/18 you'd prefer.
How about a size 295/35/18 that fits rims from 10" to 11.5" (still molded for a 10.5" though), and has a 26.1" diameter? I think it's the additional sidewall that allows this size to fit a 11.5" rim.

I currently have Kumho 305/30/18 on 11s but not sure if they are still making them. Some 295s run wider than stated so maybe do a search as there are a few thread re. fitment.

305/30-18 compounds are still very scarce. In fact, I do not know of any quality options currently available. With that said, there are a number of 295/30-18 and 315/30-18 to choose from. The question then becomes, are the appropriate front tire sizes also available in that respective tire? For the sake of our street oriented customers, we are really hoping Michelin broadens their new 18" PS4S line. They currently cap things at 285/35-18 which is of no help to 911 owners.
Keep in mind that many extreme summer and r compound tires run wider than your average street tire. A wide 295 actually mounts up perfectly on an 11" wheel, as the wheel provides maximum sidewall support. Better sidewall support translates to better handling characteristics and driver feedback, and for that reason, we tend to recommend wheel widths on the wider side of the spectrum for a given tire. As always, it really does depend on the application.

Are we talking street tires or something worthy of lapping?

My other options are finding a "wide" 295 or a "skinny" 315. If I use a 315/30, I would need a 265/35 front to match. If I use a 295/30, I should probably use a 245/35 tire. Would love any thoughts you could share!

305 30 18 might be a little of a stretch on a 12 wide. depends on brand but example nitto nt01 35 30 18 is pretty much flush on a 12 wide...then again flush may not clear control arms?
255 35 18 should be no prob on 9 or 9.5. I actually have it on a 10 wide and it's a little stretched...which is what i needed to clear the front coilvovers. 996 wide body though

thread is very attractive. I believe load index is 97 so very 911 appropriate
I used a pair as my fill-in set as I used to drive 20k+ miles a year. In between my normal 315/30/18 tires, I had these mounted on an extra set of wheels and would use them.
No complaints. only thing was 1 tire bubbled/delaminated on the inside...I'm not sure if I hit something....weird. Anyways put about 2-3k miles on it and hooked pretty well on my 996 turbo.
I still have the other good tire with 80/90% thread in my tire collection.
I don't need the tire as I stocked up on my regular nt01 315/30/18 when they were on sale.
It's absolutely free to anyone that wants to pick it up.....i'm just north of philly. I have no use for it and i'd hate to throw it away
