Post Ok, time for new tires

Well, its about time for some new sneakers for my 930, but am not sure what the real deal is these days. I'm currently running Yokohama Advan 032R and really love the way they perform, but Tire Rack says that they are being discontinued. I use the car for hard street and DE events mostly so wear is not as important as performance. I have 235/40/17 up front (Yoko doesn't make a 245/40/17) and 315/35/17 in the rear. I'm looking to go back to the larger 245/40 size in front. So, what is the current "hot setup" that replaces what I have?

Geoffrey,

It sounds like you want to buy one tire for all purposes. I would look at 3 possibilities: Kumho Ecsta 700, Michelin Cup tire, and Kumho Victoracer 700. Unfortunately, another great choice would be the Toyo Proxes RA1, but the largest size they make is 255/40x17. The Ecsta 700 is Kumho's new r-compound tire, previously available in Europe. The Victoracer is the older Kumho, and I don't think it's wet weather handling is too strong once it starts to wear. Michelin cup tire is new, sold thru Tire Rack, and right now only available to PCA members (the link is http://www.tirerack.com/tires/michel..._sport_cup.jsp ). Of course, you could also go buy a last set of the 032R's.
