Post Can I remove old tires myself?

Is there a way I can remove tires off a rim at home? I found a website telling a process but now I can't find it. I need to get new tires mounted and I can save almost $50 if I can get the old tires off the rim. Any help much appreciated! Thanks.

Like most things, if you don't have the proper tools pay the fifty bucks and save your self a lot of headache or you will wish you had. IMHO

I once worked at GoodYear as a tire changer in my younger days.

I'm definitely gonna pay to have someone mount them but $50 is worth a little trouble to me. They used a wooden board and the weight of another car to push down & release the tire bead from the rim.

I am not saying you can't do it yourself, but.. I can picture several scenarios where damage in excess of $50 or bodily harm could occur.

Please be careful if you do try it yourself.

Good Luck
