Question Experience with Wheel Enhancement

Does anybody have experience with having wheels refurbished at Wheel Enhancement in Culver City, CA? I have a big gauge in one of my rear rims that I need to get fixed to make the car perfect.

Hey Frank,

My wheels were pretty nicked up and had some serious curb rash. They are currently at Al Reed's polishing in Anaheim and I hope to get them back today. I had them go with a full polish without clearcoat and will let you know how it looks. However, from what I have read on this forum and pelican parts, it should be top notch. Price to dismount my wheels, fully polish and remount with new tires drop shipped from Tirerack AND spare rollers so I could still drive the car was ridiculously low.

This might be a more economical alternative and give your car a different look.

What he prefers to do is exchange the wheel with a take-off in good shape rather than refinish a single one. This, because one wheel will be slightly unmatched with the rest. If you were refinishing all your wheels, that wouldn't be a problem.

WE knows their stuff.

I had them do one of my 18" Turbo Look wheels. If you look closely, you can tell which wheel was refinished because it looks better than the other three. Very nice work.

Frank,

You could try Wheel Collision, in Bath (just n. of Allentown) PA. They do great work, have a great reputation and are a lot closer to the garden state. I had three of my four hollow spokes done about two months ago. They look great. I have no connection to Whl Collision other than having paid to have my whls done!

Thanks for you help. Really appreciate it. The only problem I see with WE is that UPS shipping alone is $75 - $175 (each way) per wheel for me so WCC looks like a good alternative. Another question I have is whether I should have all wheels refinished or only those that need it. I am afraid that it will be tough to match the silver color on all four wheels. Thoughts?

Frank,

Unless you are going to line the wheels up next to each other, a slight diff isn't going to be noticed anyway. Talk to WCC about it. Maybe its worth it for you to take the wheel to them with another one for matching purposes.

I had all 4 multi piece sport classic rims refinished at Wheel Collision in PA. All 4 rims were niced up by the previous owner. They did a fantastic job, all 4 looked brand new and they had a 2 week turn around.

Last year, I had the folks at Wheel Collision Center repair my track wheels. They were used and came to me with some damage to the seating surfaces for some lug nuts. Wheel Collision Center did a great job of putting in steel inserts. When I was there I saw some of their wheel restoration work and it seems to be first class. When the track wheels (7s & 8s) are retired and replace my street wheels (6s & 7s) for day-to-day use, I plan to have them restored there. Bath, PA probably isn't that far from wherever you are in NJ.

Frank,

$75 - $175 to ship??? You are just shipping the wheel right? UPS site is down, but you could ship it Next Day with USPS for $75. Standard shipping for $32.

While I have not had Wheel Enhancement redo my wheels, but I did buy some new 996TT take offs mounted with new tires. They came exactly as advertised, right on time, and well packaged.

Thanks for the advice. Really appreciate the input. I'll be dropping off my wheels personally at WCC on Saturday and will keep you posted.

Unfortunately, I would be sending the tires WITH the wheels to Culver City so UPS Ground is quite expensive with about $58 per wheel - each way.
