according to "blue book" the car is (was) worth 5k, i know it's more than that, but i guess and feel that the insurance company might look at it's value and it might not be in my favor, i think they might declare it total. if they do do i have to give up my car? or can i keep it and choose to repair it.
i informed the body shop that i have the bumper, lights, lover valance bumper shocks and the end caps.
he said that if i use this i might be able to come up ahead on the deal.
if so then he'll paint the whole car.( possible GTR front bumper and side skirts) which is cheaper if he would have bought all the necessary parts.
r/r 1/4 panel is not creased and it might be able to be pushed back out through the speaker opening. the lower valance is repairable ( mounting bolts broken) but can be replaced.
i'm thinking bout using my comp/coll 250 ded. to get things going and the insurance can deal amongst themselves while the car is being repaired. then when they settle it they can pay me some more, what ya'll think?

When the body panels are bent then the chassis is bent then the axles are out of alignment.

Take the money and buy another straight body. Swap everthing.

Some insurance companies have a clause in their contracts that give them the right to total your car regardless of it being repairable or not. This is cheaper for them but not for you. You may be able to keep the car and take a bit less for your loss. Who is the insurance company?

Usually you can buy your car back, as a salvage car.

Depending. You should be able to keep the car and take less $$$.

I know that my rear ender could have totaled the car because of the projected cost to repair even though my insurance company and the others insurance company are different. There are agreements in the contracts that give them reciprocity.

Carl, once the car is declared totalled or salvage, even though you fix it right, it isn't worth the same...you gotta watch the insurance guys closely on that!

watch them in what ways?
i think the car can be fixed. it's hard to let it go ,as this is my first p-car.
i've spent countless nights in getting it to run well and look the the way i wanted it.
for someone to tell me that it's totalled, well it's hard to accept.

Insurance Co's got you by the short hairs Carl. Better read your contract over again. If they decide to total it they usually get their way. Guess you could argue with the DMV though as they are the ones that would declair the title salvage. But the insurance co's get a hefty tax write off on the car.

Carl, just read and ask questions left and right! See what you can do to protect your interest.

first i'd like to thank you everyone for the support.
the ins. co. is paying for it to get fixed and painted (pearl white)

now for the bad news......
the car is now at the paint and body shop, it'll be there until the 7th of nov.
thus i'll be missing the party. I apologize to everyone. Especially to Devia as i told her that i'll be giving her the clutch.
Devia, if you still need the clutch i'll be bring it to you after my car get's repaired, on the 8 or 9 nov. that is if you'll still need it. anyways the clutch is still free, i am not expecting anything in return, so please don't think that there areany strings attached.
I was really looking forward to the party, one to meet diff pll who have deep pockets(J/K), and learn how to do the belts and other preventive maintenance.

again i apologize to everyone for not making the party.

Carl, you don't have to bring your 944 to the party, just yourself! Where is Fort Irwin?

If you don't have a way to get there, maybe one of us can bring you?

Wow! A 9XX run to the desert and back!

Carl, Is the clutch at your parents or with you at Ft. Irwin?

Fred, Do you have a spring center clutch disk?

SoCal, believe it or not, I'm one of the few people that fit fairly comfy in the back of a 944, lol! Could we pick him up?
