1980 Porsche 911SC, This 1980 Weissach Edition was first owned by Brock Yates (Editor of Car and Driver, writer of Smokey and the Bandit and The Cannonball Run). It has spent its life in Florida. I have a lot of service records. It is a strong original runner with all original interior. The exterior has been painted white by its original metallic black by a previous owner to a fair standard, The car has had new rotors, calipers and breaks, a new fuel tank, new lead wires, new injectors and a new warm up regulator and a new distributor, valve adjusment, new belts, new turn signal relay. The car is running strong and pulls hard. Sunroof, windows all work. The interior could use a slight refresh and there is a small tear in the drivers side seat which is easily repearable. Original manual and service manual. The factory AC has been converted but needs a charge. This is a great car for the price with its provenance. The Weissach Edition a one-year-only limited-edition package, the Weissach was named after Porsche's freshly minted development complex near Stuttgart as a way to reassert its commitment to the “Pursuit of Excellence.” Advertising literature pointed out that at $32,000, the Weissach Edition package was 15-percent less than if the various components were ordered individually, but the point was moot; all 400 of this limited edition 911 sold out with more potential buyers left wanting. Essentially a Turbo minus the boost and the wide rear body work, the Weissach was powered by Porsche's fuel-injected 3.0 L flat-6 engine driving a 5-speed manual transaxle with limited slip differential. It also offered special paint, wider wheels and tires, stiffer shocks and larger Type-930 disc brakes, a front chin spoiler and rear whale-tail spoiler, sealed-beam halogen headlamps, power remote mirrors and antenna and leather interior trim. I believe there to be less than 100 Weissach editions in existence today.

Sounds like the equivalent to a modern 911 GTS.

Good luck with sale. As a fellow Weissach owner I would note that the car has standard SC brakes from the factory and is not a "turbo without the boost and rear bodywork" it is a highly optioned SC with a unique interior.

I'll add that I have never seen one repainted from the original color (metallic black or platinum) and there are 118 surviving cars listed here http://www.my911weissach.com/survivors.html

This comment is in no way meant to be a knock on this car...but, my first Porsche was a Weissach, also the metallic black, and this repaint kind of hurts my heart...dang!

I have Brock Yates signature/autograph in his "Cannonball" book that I personally obtained from him and it looks nothing like what is on the letter pictured above.

People don't always sign their name the same way each time. I don't....

think about it: standing, sitting, on the run, roof of a car, hood of a car, drunk, tired, pen, different pen, too fat a pen, too skinny a pen, roller ball, pencil, marker...you want it to be pretty, you don't give a $hit....etc,etc,etc..........
