Default 1966 Porsche 912 Coupe Silver/Red Restored

Year: 1966

VIN: 452795
Price (no $ sign please): $60000

Body Style: Coupe
Transmission Type: Manual - 5 speed
2 or 4 Wheel Drive?: 2 Wheel Drive
Engine Type: Carbs

Restored 1966 Porsche 912 Karmann Coupe. Matching numbers. Mileage 93,715 believed original. This car was built in October 1965. It will come with black Legacy plates. I had listed this car previously with rare factory 1967 Recaro Sport Seats. I have since sold the sport seats and can now offer the car for less. The buyer of the sport seats had a very nice, original set of correct seats with headrests. My car did come with headrests per COA. I included photos of one of the seats. These will be redone using the Autos International kits in matching red vinyl. If someone wanted the car before this work has begun, I can offer for $57,000. This would be a good time to go back to original black interior if desired. Once completed, estimating early January, price will be $60,000 firm. Many more photos available on request. PLEASE NOTE: Interior photos show the sport seats, these are no longer in the car and no longer available. The car will have the correct 65/66 seats. Forgot to mention, I am also considering partial trades. I need a daily driver, looking for a BMW 3 or 5 series ideally, possibly older Range Rover as well. My other car is a 79 930 with 54k original miles and would prefer to keep that one on a tender covered in the garage. :-)

New seats are now underway. Autos International is sending seat kits with correct matching "304 red" vinyl plus black/white pepita houndstooth centers. Basket weave centers were not an option with the red vinyl so chose the houndstooth. The seats will look just like the attached but with headrests. All hardware has been handed off to be re-plated and perfect, refurbished seats rails arriving this week. Anxious to see how these look in the car. I anticipate everything completed by first week in January.

Thanks Jeff, I will probably want to keep it when finished. Already have 3 guys interested once it is done. I guess the sport seats were the issue all along.

Seat sets just arrived from Autos International and look spectacular. Recliner and headrest hardware should be back from plating mid-January.

Put one of the seat bases on the rails and set the new cover over it. Autos Intl matched spot on. These will look great.

Just sold at Gooding, Scottsdale. I think I need to re-evaluate. This has to be a World record for a 912. Sold for $104,000

It may have been the $65,000 roof rack.

I saw on another forum from someone who was there and looked it over said one fender was incorrect (thin lip) and driver door poorly repaired/finished

I was there also and was in total shock when it went past $70K. There were two passionate buyers and as the saying goes, that's all it takes.

For reference a nicely restored 911T sold later in the day for $150K.

Nearing completion of my seats. Completely disassembled the recliners from the correct seats and had them re-plated, chrome where they should be chrome and nickel where they should be. One passenger side and one driver side shown. Now reassembled and awaiting the seats which should be ready any day now. I do need to find two rubber boots that cover the splined shafts, one side has them, the other does not. I have checked several parts sites but to no avail. Does anyone know of a source for these?
