Default 1987 928 S4-- Rennlist Special!

Year: 1987
Make: Porsche
Model: 928
Cont. Porsche Models: 928 (all)
Mileage (numbers only please): 178000
Color: Graphite Metallic
Price (no $ sign please): $5500
Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing
Location (Region): NorthWest
Body Style: Coupe
Transmission Type: Tiptronic
2 or 4 Wheel Drive?: 2 Wheel Drive
Engine Type: Fuel Injection
Stereo System: AM-FM CD

In 1987 the Porsche 928 S4 was the fastest production car in the world. Designed for autobahn performance, these GT cars were often produced with automatic transmissions and gearing for sustained triple digit speeds. Their handling and brakes are built to match, offering staggering abilities even by today's standards. The 928 model was originally designed to replace the 911 and smart collectors are picking them up all over the world- these rare S4 models are some of the most desirable.

This particular model is in average to good condition. It's been repainted, but needs the door jams color matched, and perhaps another coat of clearcoat to give it a gloss rather than satin finish. Interior is good, dashboard is in pretty good shape, with just a couple cracks on the separate instrument cluster portion. The leather seats have a few small blemishes, but are the desirable sport seats and still have proper shape and look good. Newer MOMO steering wheel is gorgeous and has a nice feel to it.

Tires have great tread, but some cracks in the sidewall from age, so we recommend replacing them. Brakes are outstanding- very powerful. The car starts right up, and has had the engine professionally replaced ($8000) and many service records are included with the car. The pricey but essential timing belt and water pump service was recently completed. All the glass is good with no chips or cracks. K&N filter, smooth shifting transmission, performance exhaust, and performance to impress- you'll love this supercar!

We are experienced at selling worldwide, please call text or email our owner Jon at 425-446-1895 (cell) to ask any questions, request specific photos, or to make an offer on the car.

This car is currently listed on eBay, Craigslist, and many other sites, so if you've seen it here for this price, please let me know you saw it on Rennlist! If someone prefers the factory silver, I could have it professionally repainted (quality job) for about $1500. I could also have tires installed at my cost (dealer) which can save you some money. Many more photos available!

The shame with this car, as I realized when I was standing next to it in my shop today, is that its worth way more in parts than what I'm asking for it. Something just seems inherently wrong with that market!

I'm curious to know other Rennlister's thoughts on the price of this car? Good, bad, fair?

Its not that I think its unfair but honestly you'd be much better off spending more upfront for a lower mileage clean example as by time it was painted to a nice standard seats etc the costs would be more.

Price isn't bad but in the pics it looks like a bad spray paint job done in someone's garage.

The paint job almost looks like Plastidip.

How can you have a "quality" paint job done for $1500? My best friend is a painter and he says the correct paint runs about a grand or more.

I actually like the color, but it does seem splotchy. Normally I don't notice paint imperfections well either.

No one can paint this car correctly for 1500 unless that's just for materials.

Sold it for $4600. I considered parting it out, as it'd be worth significantly more than that in parts, however it just seemed wrong to dismantle a good driving S4.
