MB GL vs Yukon/Suburban?
Hello folks,
Getting the itch to change my 2010 ML550 which has served me very well as a DD and open Trailex tow vehicle.
There are not many SUVS that tow over +/- 7500lbs so options are boiling down to the GL or the YukonXL. Pricing on these relatively close although the Benz more expensive.
I think the GL will age better in both looks and quality in the long run, but I'm itching for something different.
Thoughts, experience or advice.?

The GL is the nicer car, but you get lower running costs with the Yukon and the Denali version has the corvette v8.
If the GL is not much more, that's probably the direction I would go with, like you said it will age better and while the interior of the Yukon has come a long way it's not as nice as the GL.

The new (2015+) GM platforms are terrific! After three previous generation 'Burbans ('07, '11, '13), I bought a '16 Tahoe and am very pleased. I tow a 20' steel chassis Pace and it's darned good. The interior appointments and visibility are very good, no problems except occasional rough shifts. INCREDIBLE mileage over my old platforms. The GL is cool, but I doubt it will age well, especially service costs.

Wait from what I'm seeing it looks like the 2017 Expedition will be available with a diesel????? If so, I'm getting one.

Looking closely at a 2016 Yukon Denali with dealer....
6.2L engine rocks. Very quiet and nice riding truck.
Offered 9% off msrp and got a stare.
Told the guy that we are only a few weeks from being able to order a 2017.
Anyone know what a decent discount off MSRP would be?

Without the trailer, it will get 19MPG at 70MPH, with my open trailer and race car (about 4500 lbs), it will get almost 13 MPG at 70MPH. Tow rating is about 9000 lbs with the heavy tow package.

It's hard to beat having the bed of a pickup truck to throw wheels, tires, greasy crap, ... in without having to worry about getting things dirty. With a featherlight or Trailex open a 1/2 ton crew can is hard to beat. For most any enclosed I'd want a 3/4 diesel. I'd think towing in a crosswind with an enclosed and an suv would be an adventure I'd rather not take.
