MB cancelling EQ platform (kinda)
A bit misleading article title, but reflects the current electric car sales.

it doesn't reflect EV sales. it reflects the poor sales of MB EVs.
I didn't see any mention in that article that the decision made by MB the remarks are related to the sales numbers of ALL EVs, it is just MB EVs that are not selling well.
that slant is part of the anti EV propaganda being pushed in the media.
Have you ever driven an MB EV?
ignoring the bland styling, the car is just not catching on because of it's high costs and not so great performance.

TheStraightPipes guys were like, is the EQS the worst new Mercedes? Throttle House guys were a bit nicer, just saying it was 'meh'.
Ford's EV sales have increased significantly.
https://carboncredits.com/fords-ev-s...%20this%20year.
US EV sales are up in 2024 compared to 2023, comparing 1st quarter numbers.
Global sales of EVs are up about 25%, Q1 2024 compared to Q1 2023.

Can't blame overall EV sales just because your EV sucks.
Without bias, the MB EQS (the sedan or whatever) is by far the worst and most forgettable EV I've been in and I've seen them all. Without wasting anyones time by further typing... IT SUCKS.

when searching for a replacement for the taycan I test drove both the MB EQE and the BMW I5, the bmw was a better car but neither of them made the cut.

I think Mercedes might be looking to outsource its work force for evs to china where they're cheaper to make.

I bought my wife the BMW iX. I must admit - its really good to drive for a large SUV. Super luxurious, good tech, fast, quiet, good range at a realistic 300+. Only downside is the front grill. The MB not so much.

I did the same thing, and my thoughts exactly mimic yours. The only additional quibble I’d add are the seats - they could use a lot more bolstering.

Mercedes should be humiliated that Porsche built the taycan instead of them.
