I am told that dealers are often required to provide the DMV registration address to PCNA for, you know, safekeeping.

Very common and happens across manufactures.

Brilliant idea. But as another member mentioned, they may want a driver license from Knoxville Tennessee.

I've looked at fourteen Taycans, from CA to FL. This is the only one requiring residency to buy a car there. Of course this Taycan checks off 99% all the boxes.

Call a UPS store and get a Box there. This is not a PO Box but you can use the address with the "Suite" number. Cost you about $200 a year ?
Example: Dr G7, 10629 Hardin Valley Rd, Suite or # 100, Knoxville, TN 37932
They will forward your mail for a charge. If dealer questions your address, tell dealer you are in the process of moving to Knoxville.
When deal is done, I drive it to you. Never leave your house...

If I was in sales there, I would have "coached" you on how to get you the car. Sales is fat and happy right now and not hungry yet.....

What an excellent idea. I already sent an email to the store.

It looks like it has been over a week now since the car was on the dealer's lot. I would be shocked if it is even still available unless there is a really really huge markup.

Same here. Got a huge discount on a 2020 Turbo, but today the first trade-in offer from the dealer is more than I paid new.

Buy through a broker. That is what I always do. Well worth the $300 to $500 fee.

I think you can only legally have a drivers license in one state but lots of people ( like me) have more than one home. You can always get the P.O. Box or studio and just get a Tennessee ID card. I don’t think the dealer would really care especially if you said you lived there part time and wanted to leave a car in town.

Maybe ordering is the best idea? But way things are going if I ordered today, delivery in September?

I've never bought through a broker. Don't even know how to begin, who to trust.

It is yet on the lot. Two weeks ago, they told me it was pending sale...with multiple buyers chomping at the bit. Anyway it is six figure purchase, maybe trump change for most Porsche owners, not so for "Basket of Deplorables" types. Me included.

Challenge of a 2020 is being a completely new platform, too many unknowns. However, I don't want open that can of worms. I know my 2020 was a challenge to live with. 2021 onwards, even with the massive recalls, have been less challenging.
