Default cool story bro, ordered a CT4S

hope to be back in the porsche fold come feb/mar 2023. i plunked down some greenbacks for a taycan 4s cross turismo buildable allocation. anticipated build week is in jan 2023, with delivery in feb or march.

i admittedly, copied a fair bit of the youtuber "remove before race" CT4S build. but added the performance bits and more distinct interior. opted for the standard, most aero/range saving wheels. i will probably paint them black after delivery.

suggestions welcome. this car will replace my aging 2017 model x.

The stand out for me is I would swap the wheels for the 21" Cross Turismo Design Wheels, for a 140k car the Standard Aero Wheels look out of place, they look like they should belong on a base Tesla Model 3 IMO.

The 21" Wheels look great, and you can opt for them in High Gloss Black from the factory which goes great with all of the black accents.

Nice build! I second the recommendation to choose the 21” wheels, preferably painted black. Painted or not, those standard wheels don’t belong on any Porsche IMO.

ack! but i lose like 15-20miles range....which makes a difference in my mind given the not so robust non-supercharger network.

i will agree they look way better. i need to think about this one..

How often will you go 200+ miles in a single day. Having had an ev for many years now, unless I’m doing a road trip I never need more then a 85% charge worth of range.

actually, with some regularity. i do short day trips (~200miles round trip) weekly to go fly fishing or mountain biking. hence why i think the utility of the cross turismo fits well with my hobbies.

I'd at least go with 20", the Porsche UK website has a range calculator and shows no difference between the 19" and 20" options. 200+ is easy on 20" Turbos, I've done it many times even in not so great weather.

Also, get rid of the power charge ports if you are trying to maximize range.

No to those wheels! They are hideous. Also, You won’t notice the difference in range. I had 20s on my 2021 and 21s on my current 2022.

You should still be able to hit 200 miles on a full charge with the 21's without a problem.

Less Aero, here is a good thread on it;

https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/th...sed-drag.3709/

Here is a link to the range calculator;

https://www.porsche.com/internationa...rmance/models/

Estimates of course but on the 4 Cross Turismo it's saying 352 KM estimated range with 19" Aero Wheels vs 335 KM for 21" Wheels. So roughly 17 KM or 10 miles of range less with the 21" Wheels.

Nice congrats!

I see you're in VA. Mind if I DM you with the dealer you went with the terms? Im supposedly on the list for an allocation but have no idea when I will ever see a car (Im also expecting sometime in March 2023 I guess).

Not sure anybody's ever been able to put a number on it, but they eliminate the air curtains on the fenders which clearly have some aero benefit.

If range is a concern, every little bit helps.

Instead of thinking of it as "I lose 15-20 miles on a full charge", think of it as "I lose x% efficiency over the lifetime of the car". IMO those wheels look fine. You can always buy new ones later.
