I just traded my 2021 4s for a new 2022 TTS and am blown away. Having owned several exotics and Porsches I think it’s the best $200k+ car out there right now. I’d love to hear what models people are buying and why. Please only actual owners, not the model you “would get”
Hi neighbor,
Love your PTS voodoo btw - what an awesome color. Hope to see it in person around someday
My thinking was I think the way Porsche has engineered their pricing structure. They want you to realize that you can get what you want and a bit extra if you pick the next model up in the range.
Financially, I think it also makes sense. On a resale, you take a much bigger hit on the options than the base. Usually 2-3x bigger hit. So it makes no sense to structure the purchase as say 150K + 70K in options. It is a better financial decision to buy the 185K car with 45K in options
So it was at least Turbo for me. I went a few times between the turbo/s models. Decided I want to get the ceramic brakes so that pretty much sealed a Turbo S for me.
what blows you away about the turbo s vs the 4S? I think you also have a 992 TTS cab? When i got my 992 TTS, the 4S Taycan felt slow (haha, it never felt slow prior to that). i'd imagine the taycan turbo s makes the 992 tts feel slow.
I have an allocation for a Taycan GTS that locks end of month, which feels like a sweet spot for me. The torque is a big step up from the 4s (same as the turbo) and closer to a turbo s than the 4s.
i also have a few other ice cars in the garage and incoming, so felt the need to economize somewhere. unlimited funds, taycan turbo s with all boxes ticked for sure (love your voodoo blue, looks like my shark blue!)

the Taycan TS makes the 911 TTS feel slow most of the time. Except hard deceleration. The 911 does a much better job, and there’s less of a jarring contrast between the g forces up as down in it (although still ferocious, the instant EV torque can be physically brutal and weird combined with hauling down 5000#)
Great car and yes would be great to see that beauty at one of the local (RTC) cars and coffee this summer. Great photo too. Love the color --Chalk or is that the lighting on a white car?

Yes The 992TTS is super quick no question but I think its the massive torque that is the most mind blowing in the Taycan. The TTS feels a bit muted in comparison and Turbos are not as emotional in general but a great GT. I think maybe a better combo would be a Taycan Turbo S and a GT3 or for me its going to be the F8 (if it ever gets here)
Such a great color. Love it and would love to see it in person. Getting new PPF I assume? I just had my entire car done. Where are you getting it done? I’ve used three shops around and the last ones install really blew me away.
The Taycan forum isn’t particularly active on RennList. I think that there are a few reasons for this.
It’s the kind of vehicle that just works. There’s less to commiserate about.
Overwhelming majority of Taycans are assigned daily driver duty vs other P cars like the 911.
Most people aren’t tracking their Taycans.
Compared to other P cars, owners aren’t modifying their Taycans. No Sport cats, exhaust systems, etc.
Oh… and the Tesla-stans posting on the RennList and Taycanforum make things unbearable. Seriously, it’s a WTF sh$%posting campaign. I have driven Tesla’s. I have friends that own them, but I can’t stand the proselytizing of the owner community. It’s toxic.
Most of my RennList time is spent in the 992 forums, which are, only on occasion, disrupted by some Tesla cult member.
Voted Turbo (2020 Turbo, now with about 12,000 kms of completely trouble-free driving), but also have a GTS ST on order and a 4S CT rented through Porsche Drive. Hands down the Taycan is the best daily I've ever had. I second detansinn's comments about the toxic environment when things descend into Tesla worship / trashing.
I have a Turbo but the GTS is probably the sweet spot in the lineup. I suspect the GTS will become the most popular model, but perhaps it will remain the 4S. I think the lack of dramatic aesthetic differentiation between the models probably reduces the uptake of Turbo/Turbo S to a degree (no wide body or intakes etc)
