Out for a walk tonight and discovered a neighbor a street over has a sapphire blue Spyder with red interior and LWB's! Small world...
I'd heard him before but could never figure out where he was coming from.
We should see if they can mate!
(Boxster 7- there are some great roads on your side of the pond! Unfortunately when were driving there, I was in a rental Ford - at least it had a stick and was fun to shift with my left hand!)

It was on the approved list only as "Pantone 296C" with no reference to blue. I wanted a dark non metallic blue and with the limited window for pts there was no time to wait for a new color approval. I suspect exactly what you wrote, some company somewhere likely wanted a brand color on some model of Porsche thus it made the list. Or perhaps was approved and never used. Worked out great.

Big car show in Fountain Hills today (over 600+ cars) with 4 Spyders. Ran into fellow 'lister with voodoo blue Spyder (he's behind to the right of me) - fun to compare colours with Mexico...
Also ran into PT ( race fans will know who that is!) and very famous guy to us older gearheads, Pete Brock...

chuckwalla valley raceway track day
The Spyder was a big hit at the track day. It did some decent times with a learning driver on a foreign track. 2:05 best. I'll smooth it out, earlier throttle, trust the limited slip diff and theres a few more seconds in there easy. video to come.

These cars rock. The driver of an extensively modified 987 Cayman in my run group came to me during a break and wanted to know what Id done to make my car so much quick than his. My response was basically new tires, IPD, and an exhuast. Which from what i can gather from the conversation was similar upgrades he'd already done. Driver skill aside (I consulted a coach for a few laps yesterday btw) I think it goes to show how complete a package these cars are, and how Porsche is genius at incremental changes to make significantly different products.
In short you cant always replicate the improvements they make to "special" Porsche cars in the aftermarket, theres always gonna be something missing.
