That is a cool shot Ale, you definitely drive and enjoy as intentended, not to mention your roads and setting provide great opportunities to exploit the Spyders capabilities. Thanks for your great posts!
Doing a drive with some car buddies next week along the Mogollan Rim and pine forrests north and east of PHX... should get some good pix. The trip was planned a couple weeks ago but a foot of snow and closed roads caused a major rescheduling!! This has been a real weird winter in AZ!! This was our view out the front door a couple weeks ago- obviously not a good day for a ride in the Spyder...
hi all
spotted a black spyder (987 i think) on I95 NB in MD. anyone here perhaps? i was black 981 BGTS directly behind you but blocked by a big pick up truck between us so maybe you didn't see me. I had to get off at Maryland house so just got a brief glimpse before exiting.
Beautiful day in So Cal yesterday so I gassed up and headed down the coast.
Blasted down to Carlsbad bright and early for the Carlsbad 5000 run, which attracts elite runners from around the world. Perfect conditions led to a blistering winning time of 13:29 (4:20/mile!) set by a Kenyan runner, which, let's just say, is slightly faster than my personal best.
Had breakfast with friends and then checked out the relatively new Carlsbad Porsche dealership (fka Hoehn Porsche), a 10x improvement over the prior showroom.
Saw this Spyder in the service bay and judging by the black wheels and CCB's, I'm guessing this might be Nelson's car ????
Took a long gander at these 20" Turbo Carbon Fiber wheels, a $14,980 option. Gulp.
Then shot over to Temecula to meet up with a Spyder buddy who graciously returned from his European vacation with the elusive OEM Safety Vests I had asked him to try to source for me in Germany. As most already know, in addition to the clear side markers, Euro cars (and I believe US cars picked up at the factory via ED) come with a warning triangle, first aid kit, and safety/high visibility vests -- items which are required by law in several European countries. I had all the other items, except the vests -- until now!
Going overboard on the window decals, but can't help myself. It's a sickness.
I killed some bugs of my own on the way home.
A 250 mile day. No aggressive canyon driving this trip, just some leisurely kicked back Spyder goodness after a tough work week. What this car saves me in therapy bills cannot be overstated. Truth.
I did raise and lower the top probably two or three times throughout the day yesterday and boy, did I feel it. Whew! Using muscles I don't normally use left me sore and totally gassed. Had to skip work today just to recover from all that physical exertion.
great photos, I see filling up at Sinclair and Chevron, I'll need to find an article I was referred to a few years ago, I recall it noted "all gasolines are not created equal" It discussed certain standards that gasoline needed to meet to get a recommended rating for sports cars. There were several on the list but a number of commonly seen brands were not on the list. I noticed Shell was on the list, I have one close by so that's what my babies get.
Good eye Nick, that was my Spyder! Everytime I see your car, it reminds me of mine and what I'm missing now that I've moved to a GT3 6speed.
Congrats on the GT3, Nelson! Hope you're enjoying it to the fullest. Know that you are always an honorary member of the So Cal Spyder group so don't hesitate to bring that bad boy on the next Spyder drive.

Shell and Chevron for my baby. Until I saw Afshin's post, I didn't even know Sinclair was still around! Wow! When I was little they used to give away these small Dino dinosaurs. Had a bunch of them. Thrilled to see they're still in biz!
