Also word down the grapevine is that someone will have a complete final drive gearing solution (about 20% shorter) available in early/mid 2017
Now your talking this is the kind of drop thats needed

sounds like the ultimate Spyder is in the making:
- X51 kit with larger throttle body to eliminate the top end dips for that VTEC-like powercurve
- sport headers to fill out the torque curve and improve the sound
- lighter flywheel for better throttle response
- HRE or BBS wheels for lower unsprung weight

I think you meant smile/$
based on the dyno charts of the plenum/tb cars with headers, the curve still looks more lumpy than I'd like and flat after 6800 rpm or so
Looking for a curve like this at the top end...

new tires for Spyder
at a little over 7k miles, my rear Pirellis on the Spyder are pretty much without tread.. is this normal?.. seems like a very short life without having done track work.. just "spirited" mountain twisties.
I'm thinking I'd like to go with a slightly wider footprint.. noticed that some guys with wider tires also while leaving the stock wheels. Any suggestions?
This is probably a stupid question, but can i go slightly wider in back while leaving my front tires unchanged (they still have lots of tread, and like the "light" feel.. don't want to lose feel in the steering with wider tires)... or will the diameter difference cause a problem or look badly?
thanks!

I'm at 12k miles and the Pirellis are still good. I did one track day at Sebring and the rest of the miles have been on boring congested central Florida roads. I'd gladly exchange fewer miles on the tires for some fun mountain roads.

I expect I will replace the rears this time, like for like, then look to see the best option to replace all tyres next year.

This concern about increasing understeer concerns me.. I wanted slightly wider for looks, but at expense of handling.. although I do wish the car were a little more planted at times.. I want that at all four corners, not just the rear. Would this increase in understeer be noticeable at "sane" road speeds or just on track?
