A BIG Congats Amar! It's a very special Gen-1 and sure to be a fantastic car. Dig the colour combo. Classic.

P.s. Who else, besides Amar, Donavan and I, is on their 2nd or more Gen-1?

Took you long enough!!! But seriously, this one’s even nicer than your last one and I’m certain you wil love it.

Remember, San Diego delivery is an option

Thanks Afshin, Nick, Joel, John et al. Before I made the move I reached out to a few Rennlisters who had great spyders. I was willing to pay a 10K premium over what they paid .. None of them were interested in selling or the price jumped precipitously since their acquisition. I don't blame them at all .. as if one really wants to sell then they would price it in such a way. I hope none of them sell. I would love to have a tightly knit Spyder community.

… and then there's something about a white red combo for a roadster that just is pure magical

Great to see more 987 Spyder love. Mine arrives on a ship from the UK, this week and I’m looking to add that Covercraft cover to the accessory list. Keep up the posts and pics.

The 987 Spyder is one of the most undervalued Porsche’s in existence. Porsche created a drivers masterpiece with this car, truly amazing on the back roads.

I have consistently observed owners selling them and then not long after regretting their decision. For now it hasn’t been a big issue as they are still coming up for sale and buyers are able to find their preferred configuration but as time passes some will be totaled, others will fall into the hands of an owner that doesn’t take care of them and there will be fewer nice ones too choose from. The attrition is already happening so if you’re thinking about buying one or getting back into one I think now is the time. And more importantly, don’t sell if you find what you want!

My first Porsche was a '93 Turbo 3.6. I bought it in 2001, when it was 8 years old and owned it for 13 years.

In hindsight, I bought it at its value ebb. At the time, the 993 Turbo reigned and the 996 Turbo was the latest and greatest. The Bad Boys movie seemed to lift its reputation for a few years but its value only markedly lifted in 2014. I suspect that was a confluence of monetary policy and wealthy 40 plus year olds buying the dream car of their 20s.

I see similar forces at work in the 987 Spyder. Rare, quirky, and no substitutes. I prefer Gen 1 styling and the lightness ethos. Whether it increases in value during my ownership is anyone's guess but it has the base characteristics.

And Covercraft cover ordered. I can see that being very useful on trips where I want to keep the elements off the interior but don't want to fit the top.

Seven plus years, over 42,000 enjoyable miles and we continue to enjoy this car as much if not more than the first day we brought it home
