From the video it sure looks like the Boxster Spyder was being driven harder than the R8 Spyder.
The suspension on the BS with 2 people onboard was getting really worked/pushed almost everywhere (you can tell by the sloppy lines that the car was taking) while the R8 Spyder was just cruising along taking clean lines so I would guess that the R8 had more in store that the Evo driver didn't get to harness. It can also be related to gearing on the R8's manual tranny given the comments made as well as by the bouncing off the rev limiter that you hear on the video.

you make a good point but...would you want to put your reputation on the line by offering an opinion and not doing your best (i.e. driving one car "harder" than the other)?
I wondered the same thing...is it because the Audi is all-wheel drive? does that make it it "look" smoother, more planted
I've never driven an all-wheel drive on the track so can't really say
would be nice to see how a couple of different drivers would test each car
when we were at Parade, we did the Michelin Tire Challenge, drove Michelins first, then the comparison tire
if I was running the test, I would want to go last because the second time around you're more familiar with the "track"
regardless of all of the above, it is what it is...the Spyder is an impressive work of "art" and I'm glad I have one
a friend has a Carrera GT that he calls his "Picasso"
my Spyder is my "Carrera GT"

I think we all know that every car has a different driving style. Some cars are very composed on the track and others are not. Remember the Top Gear video of the R8 being chased by the 911, the R8 is very composed and tight through the corners while the 911 has its *** hanging out and going wide.
The Spyder is true genius.
